I was forced to ditch Google Chrome and go back to Firefox. GC just had too many issues with my Norton.

I tried to switch to Chrome a couple years back, but was just too accustomed to Firefox and my hierarchy of bookmarks/add-ons to pull the trigger on it.

Plus I don't think Chrome had greasemonkey support, (at the time, at least) which pretty much sealed its fate. Greasemonkey is essential.

Or maybe Chrome was telling you to stop using that glorified bloatware. There's a dozen different kinds of security software out there that do everything Norton can do with much a smaller footprint and free.

On the subject of Chrome. I love it, never looked back. And now that I have a Tablet and Phone running on Android 4.0, I can have the magic of Chrome on every device I use.

There's a free and paid version. The paid version just has extra crap that you'll never need.

These are the top IMO as far security and being friendly to those less tech-savvy than most. Others like AVG and Ad-aware are still good, but have grown to a more complicated UI as they'v become popular.

I use Avast myself, and have never had a problem with it ever. (Except that stupid fake ass British voiced chick who tells you Avast Virus Database has been updated.)

Used to have AVG but it started to overwork alot, (in a bad way), if you know what I mean. Parts of it also became incredibly difficult to actually uninstall and get off my computer.

Along with Malwayebytes, I have CCleaner. Not sure you would call it security I guess, but, it's pretty good for wiping any useless gunk that's doing nothing for nobody.
