How I took care of my cats on my own was MAJORLY different to how my sister viewed keeping up with them, and I quickly learned just how bad animals with bad owners can be.
When I moved back out, I took my two with me. Unfortunately, one of them died due to a heart issue and I ended up allowing one of my friends to take the other one off my hands due to the apt I moved into the following year restricted animals. Since then, I have avoided getting another one until my children are old enough to learn the responsibilities that come along with being a pet owner. My oldest (10) began helping me with the dogs from the moment we got them; feeding, cleaning the backyard, playing with them, washing them, etc. When my oldest daughter hits the 8 year mark, I might think seriously on the idea of having another, but until then I am happy with the current situation.
