I don't think theres any malice in it, or jealousy really, it's more like just playing up to stereotypes. Partly due to the fact that we're bombarded with all aspects of your culture with TV movies etc...

I must say, you're not all obese thigh slapping whooping simpletons. The majority of you I've had contact with are thoroughly nice chaps!!

These are the ones that make me mad. When people from other countries think all Americans are stupid, just because we're American. You (not referring to anyone) don't know us, so therefore you have no fact to base your logic.

I even get this stuff from people in my own country because I'm from Mississippi. I've been to Maine, New York and Chicago before and when people asked me where I was from (because of my accent), they said "Yeah but you're wearing shoes," and "Do you have indoor plumbing." They probably would've been shocked if they knew I actually know how to read and was probably smarter than they were. And Mississippi is going to be on the cusp of becoming one of the most profitable states, because all of the automobile companies that can't afford to pay their employees in the North are moving here because we're anti-unions and they would be able to make profits.

Honestly I don't understand the seeming hard-on that so many seem to have for eastern culture, to the point that they are completely ignorant of the traditions and cultures that exist all around them.

Also saw it a lot with martial arts. I have been rapier fighting since I was 14, and learned a few other forms as well, but every time I hear "the Japanese created much beter stuff, that's not even an art, its just knocking people around" like we werent killing each other with just as much ferocity in the west for 2 thousand years.
There are valuable manuals on technique for unarmed and armed combat of all sorts, dating back to the first crusade, that still exist.
