WWF Championship “Winged Eagle” Title Belt

Who doesn’t like this belt? This belt is perfect. It looked like a belt that the top guy in the company would be happy to have. The Winged Eagle was introduced in 1988, and the first wrestler to hold this title was the immortal Hulk Hogan. When you say the words “Winged” and “Eagle” in front of a group of wrestling fans, they’ll immediately know what you’re alluding to. This belt was used up until 1998 but the two guys i associate this belt with the most are Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels.

Instantly familiar to TNA fans. The Gold and silver big belt is an awesome design, one of my favourite belts period. It’s from the same vein as the Winged Eagle title, with the wings coming out, the eagle itself looks huge and incredibly modern, and I believe that this title would have been perfect for the WWE. When thinking of the ultimate World Championship, most people would imagine something like this. A great looking belt for sure.

WWF/WWE Undisputed Championship

When WWF Championship and the WCW Championship were both active in the WWF, they needed to something with both titles, so why not create the first Undisputed World title.Chris Jericho was the first ever Undisputed champion he held both the Big Gold belt and the Attitude Era WWF title at the same time. This belt was thinner than the previous WWF/E world titles that came before it, but it didn’t look any less incredible

WWE/WCW US Title

The WCW US Title was golden, and the WWE title was simply an American Flag. Both were brilliant. The standout features are certainly the american flag and the placement of the championship’s name.

WWF Yellow/Gold Intercontinental Championship

One word describes this title: Beautiful.

This championship is mostly associate with The Ultimate Warrior. It’s the title he unified after defeating Hulk Hogan for World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania.

WWF Championship Attitude Era Belt

Introduced in 1999.

Fans of the late 90’s WWE period of wrestling will instantly remember the good old days when “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, The Rock and Triple H held this belt.

This belt also has an eagle, an eagle that was smaller, more condensed and looked much better in my opinion. It was perfect for the Attitude Era.

WCW Big Gold Belt

When people think of the ‘real world championship’ they often think of the Big Gold Belt that once represented the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, and later became the WCW World Championship. Also used in WWE. Following the belt’s introduction in WWE, the distinctive name plate feature of the Big Gold Belt was swiftly incorporated into the belt designs of other WWE championships. David Arquette (the lame actor) devalued this belt for me or it would be higher placed on this list.

NJPW’s IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.

The huge middle plate, “IWGP” lettering and the eagle with it’s wings spread over it all makes this entry a special one. It looks almost identical to the World Heavyweight Championship. In recent years, the belt has reached even further prestige thanks to some of the best matches of the 21st century. In particular, Hiroshi Tanahashi’s fifth reign featured a record 11 successful title defenses.

The massive WWE logo in the middle and the added option of gold plates and diamonds are the coolest factors about this new belt. The title itself has been the focal point for many historic moments in wrestling history, and many big title matches, especially at WrestleMania

NWA World Heavyweight Championship

This belt is instantly recognized by old school followers of the National Wrestling Alliance. This belt traveled around the States and even the world as it was recognized as one of the most prestigious titles…ever. Held by all the greats. A controversial entry to be sure, the NWA World Heavyweight Championship was once THE belt. No matter how many promotions branched away from the NWA and created their own titles, for a long time this still the original World Championship that everyone recognized as the true World Championship.

The WWF/E Intercontinental Championship

This belt is mostly associated with a certain Shawn Michael’s though Chris Jericho has held the title the most with a whopping 9 wins.

The Hardcore Championship

Look at this awesome piece of wrestling history ? : ) Well, it’s really just another belt, with a lot of shit added to it. The duct tape and sharpie effect really sells it for me.

The Million Dollar Belt

Dibiase admitted that he made more money with the belt than he would have made as WWE Champion. He also revealed that the belt was actually valued at $40,000 when it was created in 1988. (still a shitload of money for a belt)

The belt was later sold on trading website E-Bay.

WCW World Heavyweight Championship 91-93

Most people when they think of the WCW Championship think of the infamous “Big Gold”, and why not, it was used throughout the height of WCW and the Monday night wars, but before that title, there was this one.

ROH World Heavyweight Championship

This rendition of the belt was a huge step up from the title before it. The prestige that this title brought to ROH and it’s new brand of wrestlers was magnified due to this new edition of the company’s top prize

The AWA World Heavyweight Championship

This is the belt carried by some of the most well-known and prolific professional wrestlers in the United States. Some of the biggest names in technical wrestling once carried this belt proudly, including Jerry Lawler, ‘Mr. Perfect’ Curt Hennig, Larry Zbyszko, Mad Dog Vachon, Nick Bockwinkel, and of course, Verne Gagne.

TNA World Tag Team Championship

The shape of the belts are very reminiscent of the WCW US Championship. The middle panel on the center plate has 2 panels behind it, which are all engraved expertly.

These titles get by on a simple, yet supremely effective design. One thing I think is very important when designing belts, which I think a lot of people forget or don’t include, is to make the belts big. These are perfect examples.

The Smoking Skull WWF Title

This is what it’s all about. A belt that says, “I’m about to open up a can of whoop ass on the next son of a bitch who looks at me the wrong way. And that’s ther bottom line coz Stone Cold said so.

ECW World Heavyweight Championship

This particular extreme championship title signified the company it represented. The belt has a snake skin back, and is adorned with barbed wire wrapped baseball bats and has the words “Heavyweight Wrestling” wrote in red to make it seem like blood. It’s pretty fitting when you think about it.

TNA – X Division Championship

The X Division Championship is TNA’s answer to the now defunct Cruiser weight Championship. The original had just a big red x in the center. It’s circular mold and the huge X that’s bold enough to notice at first glance.
