WrestleMania 33 Expectations & Speculations

NXT Talent (Expectation)

This entry, along with the other expectations on the list, are generally entries that should be expected (obviously). WrestleMania 33 needs to be filled, from top to bottom, every inch of the final card, with NXT talent. There are so many major stars in NXT right now, that at this point one could consider NXT a third brand. However, NXT is developmental with star power for years to come. With the addition of Shinsuke Nakamura, along with amazing talent like Finn Balor, Asuka, Bayley, and Samoa Joe (along with many others), WWE has no excuse to not have a “super-fight” style of a card. WWE has, arguably, the best roster its had in years. WrestleMania 33 could be an event that completely blows away any other professional wrestling event. NXT is a living, breathing monster of upcoming talent, and it’s time to bring them into the biggest spotlight of the year.

Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal (Expectation)

This entry, along with some other entries, could be tied into NXT. This match, while a good concept, hasn’t really produced groundbreaking television. The Battle Royal should be at least early on in the main card, and it should be a match that launches a career. Cesaro, Big Show, and Baron Corbin are now winners of this match. See an issue? One of these Superstars doesn’t belong. This match should be a platform to expose more talent who may not have a good place on the card, yet have great potential. I’m all for promoting fresh, new talent. So, let’s see more talent from NXT in this match. This match was introduced as a big deal, so WWE, let’s keep it that way.

ESPN (Expectation)

So this is an odd entry, but it’s a relevant one. WWE today is seemingly here to promote itself with some ounce of credibility. The ESPN/WWE relationship is a good start on building some sort of competitive credibility. What would help further this action would be to further promote WrestleMania on ESPN. I would go far as to air the WrestleMania 33 Pre-Show on the WWE Network, USA Network, and ESPN. If Vince McMahon would like for WWE to be taken a little more seriously, than try your best to air your product alongside basketball, baseball, UFC, or whatever else is happening at that time.

Championship Matches

So call me old school, but why every championship doesn’t have a good storyline on the main card of the biggest event of the year is beyond me. There are championships, then there are belts from WWE.com The U.S. championship is back to being a basic belt. The prestige that John Cena brought back to the title is gone. Honestly, WrestleMania should be held accountable for presenting the titles that represent the company. We as fans should watch this one event and understand everything the WWE is all about. UFC promotes title fights, NBA and NFL promotes it’s championship games, and if WWE wants to keep some ounce of credibility, lets see every one of your championships WWE.

Championship Matches

WWE World Heavyweight Championship (Speculation)

So for my first little guessing game, who will be holding the WWE World Heavyweight Championship? I’m going with a bold prediciton, but I think it will be Dean Ambrose. WrestleMania 30 was Daniel Bryan’s year. WrestleMania 31 was Seth Rollins’ year. WrestleMania 32 is, to the love of the IWC, Roman Reigns’ year. We’ve had new champions every year thus far, and what better way to keep the ball rolling than to FINALLY crown Dean Ambrose the WWE Champion. He has been in the position many times, and is over with the crowd as over can get. And, he is the only Shield member left who hasn’t held that championship.

Plan B (Expectation)

Injuries in the WWE have been equivalent to AIDS in the 1980’s. Everyone has been injured, hurt, sidelined, whatever you want to call it, and WrestleMania 32 suffered from it. John Cena, Randy Orton, Seth Rollins, Sting, and others were kept away from potential WrestleMania main events because of injuries. You know what’s worse than an injury? Not having a good Plan B. WWE was seemingly in panick mode, especially when Seth Rollins went down. The entire main event picture changed with Seth was hurt. What WWE needs this year is a solid Plan B. It’s a shame that a multi million dollar company with a man that has 50+ years in the professional wrestling business had no good back up plans for his biggest event. Hello, there’s an entire roster down in Orlando buddy. There could have been much better matches presented this year for WrestleMania, but as many in the wrestling business have gone on record to state, WWE doesn’t plan anything out. That is pretty sad, and next year, WWE needs to have a Plan B, C, D and so on.

Plan B

Brock Lesnar (Speculation)

Ehhh, Brock Lesnar. So personally, I’ve been over saturated on Brock Lesnar. He’s starting to lose his appeal to me, and I can’t believe I’m about to type this, but Paul Heyman is starting to bore me as well. I love Paul Heyman, don’t get me wrong, but he’s been basically giving the same promo for four years now. Come WrestleMania 33, I expect Brock Lesnar to lose. He needs something to put some sort of dimension to his character, and maybe a real lose could do it. Lesnar hasn’t lost a clean match, being pinned or submitted since Triple H at WrestleMania 29, in 2013. His matches have no surprise, no edge anymore. So all I want to know is, will he lose at WrestleMania 33? For character sake, I hope so.

Brock Lesnar (Speculation)

John Cena (Sepculation)

Again, ehhh. John Cena is going to be gracing us with his presence again rather soon. Cena has been on television for nearly fifteen years, non stop. He has nagging injuries, and honestly, what’s left for him to do? What title does he have left to win? What accomplishment does he have left to reach for? i don’t see the reason to keep Cena on the road constantly anymore. I think it’s getting to that time to start phasing him out slowly. However. Vince McMahon and Kevin Dunn still run the WWE, so none of this matters. John Cena will definitely be at WrestleMania next year, so what will he do? Lose? Not likely. However, I would be interested in an Undertaker match, but that’s about it. So where will Cena be next year? Main event, title match, opening match (yeah right), what could we see?

John Cena (Sepculation)

The Undertaker (Speculation)

Ah, Undertaker, my favorite professional wrestler of all time. So i let this year’s strange storyline sort of slide because to me it made some sense and I am quite biased, but again, what is left for him to do? This man is above any title and any opponent left in the WWE. He doesn’t really have any match left that makes sense. I have given up on my dream Sting match. it won’t happen, so why come back to WrestleMania? Is it time for Taker to hang up the boots and retire? i’d like to seem him retire with some health, but who knows how far this man’s passion will push him. Wherever he may be come this time next year, I will be watching closely. What do you think?

The Undertaker (Speculation)

WrestleMania Moment (Speculation)

Probably my cheapest entry, this is filled with many guesses, hence the speculation. This year, I think it’s safe to say that Shane’s dive from the top of the Hell in a Cell was this year’s biggest WrestleMania moment. Seth Rollins stole the show last year with his epic title win, and words cannot described the event that was WrestleMania 30’s moments. The Streak ended and Daniel Bryan finally won the big one. So what will happen this year at WrestleMania? Will there be a major championship win? A major WrestleMania debut? An amazing WrestleMania spot to be remebered for years to come? Who knows, but personally, I’m betting on the Cirtrus Bowl becoming the Ambrose Asylum. Thank you for reading everyone.
