-- The Miz was interviewed by ESPN at a golf outing in Miami on Friday as part of Wrestlemania Weekend. Miz played up his view of being the "Peyton Manning" of WWE by being selected by Team Johnny for the 12-man tag match at WrestleMania. He also talked current sports including Tim Tebow, Tiger Woods and what the Cleveland Browns should do with their first round draft pick.
-- With the National Guard behind her, Lilian Garcia will kick off tomorrow night's WrestleMania XXVIII pay-per-view event at Sun Life Stadium in Miami, Florida by performing "America the Beautiful." With her performance at the show, Garcia will surpass Aretha Franklin for the most musical performances at WrestleMania.
While promoting her milestone performance, musical endeavors and work to raise awareness of black mold allergy during an interview with Puerto Rican newspaper Vocero, the WWE Diva was asked how old she is. Garcia, however, declined to reveal her age as she says there are people in the WWE work environment who "assess everything by a number."
"I'm very proud of who I am and what I have achieved. Age is just a number. I have worked with WWE for eleven years and have earned the respect of everyone around me, but there are some things that cannot be said," said the SmackDown ring announcer.
According to a source, she is actually 45-years-old, which makes her the oldest active female performer in the organization. Her commonly listed birth date of August 19, 1973 is inaccurate as she was actually born on August 19, 1966. There is a newspaper article from 1983 online on her older sister Dalia Garcia being crowned Miss South Carolina that year and it states that 16-year-old Lilian aspired to follow her path—she placed as a finalist in the Miss South Carolina Pageant in 1985. Garcia was an aspiring lead singer in the New York City area before auditioning for a television role with the sports entertainment organization in 1999 at the suggestion of her agent.
