SITE NOTE: As most of you know by now, I will be taking the train down to New York City tomorrow (Friday) to cover the ROH i-PPV event. My train leaves around 11AM and doesn't get back here to Albany, NY until around 3AM Saturday morning. With that being said, news will be very slow tomorrow afternoon/night. I plan to throw a few posts up early tomorrow morning and then I'll update the rest of the news on Saturday morning. Thanks for your continued support of the website!
Jim Ross recently spoke with the Gazette in Iowa about the Oklahoma Sooners in advance of the team playing the Iowa Hawkeyes in the Insight Bowl next week. Among other things in the interview, he talks about his current job in the WWE.
"I'm a senior advisor, like a consultant," he says. "I still play the J.R. character on television. It's a recurring role on TV, just that. I'm a senior advisor in talent relations and talent-development. I'm actively engaged in recruiting, training, and observing rookies in the system, the next generation of sports-entertainment performers that are trained in the WWE's facility in Tampa. I'll spend more time in that area than I did when I was executive vice president and the primary play-by-play voice of the brand."
Also on his most recent blog post at JRSBARBQ.com, Jim Ross discusses his "holiday wish list," with one section of the list dedicated to Daniel Bryan as World Heavyweight Champion. He requests that WWE focus on accentuating Bryan's strengths:
"That Daniel Bryan gets plenty of positive, TV time and a legit opportunity to show all involved what the hard working veteran can do from bell to bell. Personally, I find any 'size arguments' regarding the new, World Champion to be near sighted and outdated. Plus, Bryan being verbally thrashed for being a vegan or a 'hypocrite' for cashing in the MITB contract earlier than WM28 has run its course. The consumers will determine if Bryan is a hit or a miss." Be sure to read the full blog at http://www.JRSBARBQ.com/
