As noted, Austin Aries suffered an injury at last Wednesday’s NXT live event in Fresno, CA when he was working the main event. Aries teamed up with Samoa Joe to take on No Way Jose and NXT Champion Shinsuke Nakamura. The injury happened when Aries was kicked in the face by Nakamura. The referee ended the match just seconds after the spot. WWE doctors checked on Aries at ringside following the match. Aries had a swollen left eye and lost some blood from a cut but he did leave the ring on his own.
PWinsider.com is reporting that Aries will undergo surgery later this week in Birmingham, Alabama and will be out of action at least until the first quarter of 2017.
