As announced on Monday’s WWE RAW broadcast, Bill Goldberg has reached a deal with 2K Sports to be featured in the WWE 2K17 video game. According to reports, the deal between the two may be a sign that Vince McMahon’s opinion of Goldberg has changed. According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Vince McMahon was the person who prevented Goldberg from appearing in WWE 2K15 and 2K16. Vince “flat out” blocked Goldberg from appearing in the previous versions of the game. As previously reported here on eWN, Vince has to pre-approve all current and former WWE Superstars to be included in the games.
Vince McMahon has reportedly had a negative opinion on Goldberg since he left the company on bad terms when his WWE contract expired back in 2004. According to the Observer, McMahon was so negative on him that when the company was talking with UFC announcer Mike Goldberg several years ago about joining the company, he wanted Mike to change his last name for WWE television purposes.
As noted, Goldberg’s deal is with 2K Sports and not with WWE so it remains to be seen whether he’ll be appearing on RAW or SmackDown in the future.
