UPDATE: Well, so much for that. Looking in the
trademark database for the Shelton Benjamin application referenced by 4-Traders
reveals that the application is one that was cancelled and not applied for. The
application was initially filed on April 19th, 2004 and WWE released their hold
on that trademark on November 21st.

It is worth noting that it is only one of four trademarks for
Benjamin in the Trademark database; this one in particular is for articles of
clothing. A trademark for toys and action figures was cancelled on April 25th,
while one for commemorative and collectible items is still live along with one
for “entertainment services, namely wrestling exhibitions and performances by a
professional wrestler and entertainer.” Both of those appear to have been active
for years.

ORIGINAL: According to 4-Traders.com, WWE has filed a
trademark for “Shelton Benjamin” for the use of merchandise. This could be a
sign that the former Intercontinental, Tag Team and US Champion is headed back
to WWE.

Lauren A. Dienes-Middlen, WWE’s Vice President of Intellectual
Property was the one who filed the application. Other trademark applications
filed include “AWA American Wrestling Association,” “Beyond The Ring,” “Crush
Couture,” “Crush Wear,” “NXT,” “Skull King,” “The Miz” and “Total Divas.”
