Thanks to Ranjit Chahal for his help with some of the following newsbits:

-- Bob Backlund came really close to backing out of the WWE Hall of Fame induction ceremony during WrestleMania 29 weekend. He had told officials that he did not want to be a part of this class because he felt that he was being overshadowed by the other inductees. WWE managed to convince him to go along with the plan. When the weekend was over, WWE officials were not pleased with his Hall of Fame speech. This is also part of the reason he was snubbed big time on the Hall of Fame special that aired on the USA Network.
