Cody Rhodes recently spoke to Al-Ahram Weekly and explained the industry a little but for the non-initiated. Check out the highlights:
On his family legacy: “I’ve been part of a sports entertainment family and my family has been part of sports entertainment for half a century, but my father, my brother, my godfather, and my uncle can’t say what I’m about to say. I’m extremely excited along with the WWE to be coming to Cairo for not one but three shows in October.”
On professional wrestling vs. entertainment: “What we do is sports entertainment; it’s not just wrestling and not just entertainment. What we do is like a dance. It’s fixed, not fake. It’s in between real and fake and that’s the beauty of it.”
On how wrestlers train: “Every show is different and every crowd is different. It’s a mystery how it’s done and I really don’t know,” he added.
On whether the next WWE star could be Egyptian: “I don’t see why not. This is not the only time we will come. We’ll come again, maybe once a year.”
On who he likes in WWE: “I have a whole lot of respect for John Cena and all what he has done for the business. But I think CM Punk is better and he is the future of the WWE…I see myself running neck to neck with Dolph Ziggler.”
