John Cena Vs. Roman Reigns: Here’s When It’ll Happen

We recently found out that former 16-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion John Cena will be a free agent when he returns on July 4. What does this mean? It’s pretty simple — he’ll be the only superstar on the roster who is allowed to appear on both Raw and SmackDown, which will create a ton of interesting match-ups for him.

Of all the possible match-ups, there isn’t one that’s more interesting than John Cena vs. Roman Reigns. So, will it happen? And if so, when? Well, according to Cageside Seats, WWE wants to do Cena vs. Reigns sooner rather than later. The site also said that it’ll take place at WrestleMania 34, at the very latest.

Several months ago, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t Wrestling Inc) reported that the planned main event for WrestleMania 34 is Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns. However, it looks like Lesnar vs. Reigns will happen at this year’s SummerSlam, and if that’s the case, then we could see Reigns defend the Universal Championship against John Cena at next year’s show in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Many believe that John Cena will feud with Jinder Mahal upon his return to SmackDown Live, and that he’ll challenge the current WWE Champion at SummerSlam. Of course, that’s not yet confirmed, but if does make sense.

As for Reigns, well, as we found out on Monday’s Raw, he’ll go one on one with Braun Strowman at Great Balls of Fire in an ambulance match.
