Matt Hardy tweeted the following on Monday, seeming to indicate that the “Broken” gimmick and “Broken Universe” are on hold for the time being. Although the gimmick has been vaguely referenced several times since The Hardy Boys returned to WWE at WrestleMania 33, Hardy says it has been “contained” by the reception he and Jeff received at WrestleMania 33.
The sheer NIRVANA of coming home to that DEAFENING ovation at #Wrestlemania seems to have contained my CONDISHTION.
If it CAN be contained.

As previously reported here on eWn, The Hardy Boys are currently involved in a legal battle with Anthem Media and iMPACT! Wrestling over the ownership rights of the “Broken” gimmick. Anthem and iMPACT! claim that The Hardys’ TNA contracts stipulated that anything they created while employed with them were the intellectual property of the company. The Hardys have denied this is the case. Until the legal issues are resolved, it’s very unlikely that WWE will use the Broken gimmick.
Also, Matt Hardy’s wife, Reby “Sky” Hardy, tweeted a response to a fan on Monday saying if they wanted to see the Broken gimmick back they should tell WWE as it’s out of their hands:
I like it here already #RAWaftermania #fuckthatowl
