The reason the Daniel Bryan/Miz story was cut short this week on SmackDown Live! was reportedly due to the “Talking Smack” segment from last week when the company didn’t expect it to go in the direction it did.
According to reports, the SmackDown Live! post-show segment in question received a lot of speculation among fans online. For those wondering, the segment was a largely unscripted (a shoot segment). Although the banter was planned ahead of time due to their backstage reputations and often “heated conversations”, The Miz’s improvisation during the segment (D-Bryan promising fans he’d return to the ring, going back to bingo halls, etc.) caused WWE to change course.
Bryan noted on the August 30th episode of “Talking Smack” and during Wednesday night’s SportsCenter that WWE intends to keep he and The Miz “far apart” while they’re on screen, which suggests that the segment didn’t go how WWE planned and won’t be followed up on in terms of the interactions between Bryan and Miz.
