ROH issued the following:
The Road to Best in the World rolls through Hopkins, MN and Milwaukee, WI on Saturday, June 11 and Sunday June 12. And Nigel McGuinness has announced the return of TAG WARS to Ring of Honor!
In this two-day, nine-team tournament, one team will leave the Turner Hall Ballroom number one challengers for the ROH World Tag Team Championships, whomever they may be, the night following the pay-per-view extravaganza Best in the World!
With the deepest tag team division in the world, five of the nine teams entered in TAG WARS 2016 are former ROH World Tag Team Champions! In match one, eight-time ROH World Tag Team Champions The Briscoes meet three-time ROH World Tag Team Champions reDRagon, and the unlikely pairing of ROH World Champion Jay Lethal and the man he battled throughout much of 2015, “Mr. ROH” Roderick Strong!
Just two weeks prior to Best in the World, these six top ROH stars will need to suppress or channel long standing agression to earn an opportunity at the ROH World Tag Team Championship! Former ROH World Champion Jay Briscoe has an opportunity to inflict pain on the man he seeks to regain the championship from, Jay Lethal! Lethal was recently pinned in a tag team match by Kyle O’Reilly who continues his quest for the ROH World Championship, while O’Reilly’s partner ROH World Television Champion Bobby Fish has no love lost for Lethal, Strong, or the Briscoes!
In match two, former ROH World Tag Team Champions War Machine look to climb back to the top of the mountain but Silas Young and Beer City Bruiser and the new combination of 2016 Top Prospect Lio Rush and Moose stand in their way! Rush and Moose showed surprising continuity in their first bout as an impromptu tag team, defeating current ROH World Tag Team Champions The Addiction just one week before Daniels and Kazarian captured the gold! Can lightning strike again for this duo?
And finally, the final triple threat tag team match scheduled for Hopkins, MN sees ANX, RPG Vice, and The Young Bucks do battle! Heading into this, will the Young Bucks be at full health? Will Bullet Club make their presence felt? ANX has defeats over both teams – will they be able to use their tag team continuity to leave Tag Wars number one contenders? And will RPG Vice, victors of the Tag Team Gauntlet, have an advantage in potentially two multi-team matches?
