Shane Helms found himself in the hot seat on Twitter — not a difficult thing to do, to be fair — when he compared WWE RAW to WCW Thunder. Helms responded to a tweet by Ricochet last night asking about whether Raw was “really that bad” and made the comparison to WCW’s B-show from the Monday Night War era:
@KingRicochet Bro. It’s WCW Thunder bad. And I would know.

Soon after, Helms had several people calling him out for that opinion. He took back to the social media site and discussed his stance on the issue, as well as that of wrestlers being criticized for sharing their thoughts about wrestling shows:
If I speak good of TNA, I’m a suck up. If I speak bad, I’m a bad employee.

If I speak good of WWE, I’m kissing ass, if I speak bad, I’m bitter.

Got in the biz in 1988, first match was in 1991. Never did backyard or trampoline shit. Paid dues that I’d never wish on today’s youngsters.

I’ve EARNED my opinion. And keep in mind most of the “bad” opinions are said in jest or in a roasting manner. That’s my personality.

People that actually know me know that. That’s actually how the whole “Hurri-PopUp” gimmick came about.

So lighten up Twitizens. I’m just like this in real life. I don’t have a social media persona. And I ain’t gonna change.

And there will never come a day I give a ring rats ass about offending someone I don’t even know with a joke that wasn’t intended for them.
