According to Pwinsider.com, here are the latest updates on the WWE concussion lawsuits. WWE filed a motion on April 20 asking the court to force Evan Singleton and Vito Lo Grasso to respond to requests for material and answers to WWE questions about the case. They said that the two are withholding documents and medical records, including Lo Grasso (who said he was partially deaf due to damage he took in a WWE ring) not providing records that showed he was “actually partially deaf since childhood.”
WWE said that on March 7, they filed questions with attorneys for Lo Grasso and Singleton but neither have replied. They said they requested and held a counsel with the six attorneys to resolve the matter, but only one attorney was sent. The understanding was that she could make decisions for all but when the issues were brought up, she claimed she had to consult the rest of the team. On March 21, material was produced and all of it was publicly available with no confidential information that answered any questions from WWE’s legal team. WWE said that one of the documents was an article about March Madness basketball. They said that so far, they haven’t received any documents or medical records about Lo Grasso and Singleton. They also haven’t been able to access their social media accounts. They said that Singleton, who claimed he was permanently disabled, has written about being in “Beast Mode” and was training for a bodybuilding competition.
Meanwhile, Billy Jack Haynes, Russ McCullough, Ryan Sakoda and Matthew Robert Wiese (Luther Reigns) filed appeals on April 20 after their lawsuits were dismissed. It’s unknown what the grounds for appeals were.
The US District Court in Connecticut ruled on April 21 that attorneys for Singleton and Lo Grasso have an extension until May 9 to respond to WWE’s attempts to have the court reconsider allowing parts of their case against WWE in the future. The extension was requested as a personal emergency and a non-related case would force them to miss the deadline.
