ROH issued the following:

Fan demand for Ring of Honor live events is at an all-time high across the globe. With ROH’s biggest year to date in the books, we turn an eye to 2017 and the Big Apple. One of the most popular classic events makes it triumphant return in ROH’s most popular venue: on Saturday, March 4, MANHATTAN MAYHEM returns to the Manhattan Center’s Hammerstein Ballroom!

All of your favorite ROH stars will be there in a night of in-your-face, hard-hitting action that only Ring of Honor can deliver! Final Battle 2016 sold out in a matter of hours and all signs point to Manhattan Mayhem selling out, too.  To get the best seats, be sure to get your tickets early!

The ROH Executive Committee has been working around the clock to sign the biggest matches to commemorate this event’s return to the Manhattan Center’s Hammerstein Ballroom. And the ROH World Championship will be on the line.

ROH WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

ROH WORLD CHAMPION ADAM COLE vs. BOBBY FISH

Adam Cole captured the ROH World Championship for an unprecedented third time in the Tokyo Dome at Wrestle Kingdom 11. The Championship has become an absolute obsession for Cole and is something that he cannot live without.

So how haunting will it be to defend the championship at the site of his last title loss with the ghosts of defeat roaming the halls of the Manhattan Center’s Hammerstein Ballroom? He’ll only stand face to face with those ghosts if he makes it to New York as the champion.

Cole may head to the Manhattan Center’s Hammerstein Ballroom with a hungry challenger in front of him and history against him. In November 2010, Eddie Edwards won Survival of the Fittest, earning a guaranteed ROH World Title shot. In March 2011, Edwards defeated Roderick Strong for the ROH World Title at Manhattan Mayhem IV, becoming the first-ever Triple Crown Champion.

The path is there for challenger Bobby Fish. And the opportunity for history to repeat itself is rich.

Fish enters 2017 coming off the best year of his career. Fish, already celebrated as one of the world’s best tag team stars, cemented his international reputation as being one of the finest submission wrestlers in the world, capturing the ROH World Television Championship and defending it for nearly 200 days.

In November, Fish won Survival of the Fittest to earn his first ROH World Title shot in nearly two years. Fish heads to New York City with an opportunity to not only capture the richest prize in wrestling but with the opportunity to stich his name among ROH’s all-time greats as just the third star to capture the ROH World Championship, World Television Championship, and World Tag Championships.

Those close to Fish have remarked that he has studied the winning game plan his partner employed to capture the gold in the Big Apple at Final Battle. And those close to Fish believe Champion Adam Cole is worn down from his international schedule and recent grueling battles, dually driven by his desire to be World Champion and to avenge his partner’s loss, creating the perfect opportunity for Fish.

But others say Cole has never been in better shape or more confident, a virtual lock to make it to Manhattan Mayhem with gold around his waist. Cole has seemingly perfected “The Last Shot”, the move he used to capture the ROH World Championship for the third time in the Tokyo Dome, and can deploy it from just about any position in the ring. Additionally, Bullet Club has never been more in sync or as dangerous and the ROH World Tag Team Champions the Young Bucks have already been signed to appear at Manhattan Mayhem. And the history-making Cole has an impressive resume behind him heading into his bout with Fish, if he still is champion: over 400 days as ROH World Champion, putting him in an elite class of long-time title holders like Samoa Joe, Nigel McGuinness, Bryan Danielson, and Jay Lethal.

Can Fish join opportunity and execution in Manhattan and make history? Join us at Manhattan Mayhem to find out!
