— Sut Jhally, the writer and director of Wrestling with Manhood: Boys, Bullying, and Battering says that WWE’s Attitude Era under then CEO Linda McMahon was “disastrous for culture,” saying it taught millions of boys and men that to be a real man, you have to be “abusive, degrading, and disrespectful to women.” Jhally is a communications professor at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He says he did not produce the documentary for political reasons but believes that McMahon should be held accountable for the product created under her leadership.
