UWA Wrestling Releases Statement on Sabu Negotiations

UWA Wrestling released a statement on it’s Facebook page to address
the rumors on the broken negotiations with former ECW and WWE Superstar
Sabu. It would appear that there was some mutual interest in bringing
in the Hardcore legend for “UWA ThrowDown” TV tapings, but a deal was
never reached, and Sabu’s apparent management turned to social media to
blast UWA Wrestling. UWA responded in a statement Wednesday night.

“UWA Wrestling was contacted Monday morning by Thomas J. Rude. Mr. Rude
claimed to represent Sabu and expressed interest in developing a working
relationship between UWA Wrestling and Sabu. The initial offer made by
Mr. Rude was for the Hardcore Legend to appear on the January 31st
taping of “UWA ThrowDown” at no cost to UWA Wrestling, stating Sabu
simply wanted to “keep his name out”. We instantly knew that Mr. Rude
was not truly attempting to book the Sabu 10 hours away from his
Michigan home for no fee, so we promptly reached out to Sabu to advise
him of what we felt was a bogus attempt to scam our promotion using his
name.

During this conversation with Sabu, UWA Wrestling was able
to obtain a price to bring Sabu to television in the Louisville
market. Due to the public comments made by Mr. Rude, UWA Wrestling has
now retracted its verbal offer to Sabu. While we find the public
comments by Mr. Rude to be unfortunate, it obviously does not diminish
our respect for Sabu. We hope that Sabu continues following our
promotion and “UWA ThrowDown” as we continue to produce the only Weekly
Wrestling Television Program in the Southern Indiana market”.

UWA ThrowDown airs weekly and is available to 500,000 Louisville/Southern
Indiana homes each week on the WBNA family of stations. The program is
also available worldwide on the “Indie Wrestling Channel” on Roku and on
the company’s YouTube page.
