Were Bullet Club Members Using TNA as Leverage for WWE?

As the embarrassment on TNA’s part continues from the statement issued by them last night via ImpactWrestling.com, regarding negotiations with former NJPW stars AJ Styles, Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows, a few more things are worth noting.

Over on the F4WOnline.com boards, Dave Meltzer noted that one of the three talents, if not all three, were not negotiating with TNA simply to leverage a deal with WWE, but rather WWE was said to have approached the Bullet Club members with a better offer once they heard they were in talks with TNA.

TNA also might have opened itself up to a tampering lawsuit where it concerns Karl Anderson, as he was still under contract with New Japan Pro Wrestling when the negotiations, and December 14th meeting at Dixie Carter’s Nashville home, took place.

It should be noted that both AJ Styles and Doc Gallows were not under contract with NJPW when they were negotiating with TNA, and Styles had no talks with TNA at all while he was under contract with NJPW.

Karl Anderson remains under contract to NJPW until February 1st.

It’s been said that TNA’s timing of releasing the statement about AJ Styles was suspect, as it appeared just after Triple H mentioned a surprise debut for WWE’s NXT event. The surprise debut was actually former TNA star Austin Aries, and not AJ Styles.
