In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, 14-time World Champion Charlotte Flair offered her thoughts on next year’s WrestleMania 40 pay-per-view event and her goal to break the current world title record (jointly held by Ric Flair and John Cena) for the most World Championships won.

You can check out some highlights from the podcast below:

On breaking Ric Flair’s World Championship record: “I’m breaking the record. I’m so close. For so long, I stayed away from discussing it. But I’ve done every single thing there is to do, and this is my next goal. I want to keep getting better and see where I can take this character.”

On her most memorable WrestleMania matches: “It’s hard to pick a favorite because they’re all so different and each opponent brings something different out of me. I’m extremely proud of the story with Rhea [Ripley] coming full circle, WrestleMania 32 put me on the map, and I thought the match with Asuka at WrestleMania 34 cemented our legacy. We left people in awe. I don’t think people thought it would be that good. We surpassed people’s expectations.”

On a recent edition of the “My Mom’s Basement” podcast, Cody Rhodes discussed his flaming table spot while wrestling Andrade El Idolo on AEW Dynamite.

Rhodes compared the Dynamite match to his Hell In A Cell bout with Seth Rollins in WWE. He said,

“The fire was bad. I flayed my back. If I’m re-doing one, I can’t, I don’t want to re-do either. There was a purpose. Hell in a Cell, the purpose was, ‘Oh, that’s why he’s never made it. Finally in the main event, he got hurt, that’s why he never made it.’ I wanted them to know, ‘No, we’re going to do something different with this injury.’ The other one was me defined as a person trying to get you to watch the alternative product. It wasn’t about being cheered or being boo’d, it was ‘please, when I’m on the channel, turn on the channel because every viewer counts for this company and I don’t want to blow it.’ I wanted to be a leader and help lead the team there. Was it a great decision? No. Did a lot of people try to help to make it better? Yes. In the end, the heat is on me, but I put the heat on Brandi [Brandi Rhodes] too. She loaded that table up. Loaded it. I think somebody said to her earlier, ‘the more the merrier.’ Andrade, not a mark on him.”
