WWE Network: 5 Things I’d Love To See…

So after a short break, I am once again a full-fledged subscriber to the WWE Network. I am happy to spend my 9.99 a month to watch NXT and the NXT Takeover specials (seriously, they are worth it). I have also really enjoyed Breaking Ground and the Table for 3 specials.

WWE is constantly looking to evolve the network’s schedule and have recently announced Edge and Christian’s show that Reeks of Awesomeness and Ride Along that takes us on the road with WWE superstars. But what other concepts could work on the network? Here are five ideas that I would love to see on the network…

Legends House 2: Attitude Era

Season 1 of Legends House turned out to be quite good. It was cool to watch a group of legends having to coexist in a house and deal with a series of challenges. All the while, hearing stories about the good old days. So why not bring it back for a second series? Only this time with a whole new attitude. The stars of WWE’s biggest boom period invade the legends house for an explosive season. Much like, Roddy Piper was the star of the first season, Mick Foley could be the big name draw for this series. Other contestants could include, The Road Dogg, X-Pac, The Godfather, Hardcore Holly, Val Venis, D Lo Brown. Unlike the first season, the cast could also include female housemates such as The Kat, Terri or Ivory. Other existing shows that I’d love to see more of include: Table for 3, Countdown, WrestleMania Rewind and another season of Tough Enough (reverting back to Stone Cold format)

Superstar Roasts

So this is an idea taken from season 1 of Legends House where the legends put on a roast for the great Roddy Piper. For those of you who don’t know what a roast is, it is essential where a group of comedians come together to make fun of the guest of honour and it can get quite brutal. This idea could go either way, either being totally awful or genuinely really funny. Get a comedian to host it and then have a group of wrestlers and the odd celebrity join the panel to roast away on the guest of honour. Who wouldn’t want to see the likes of John Cena, McMahon and Triple H roasted.

Alternative Commentaries

For his podcast Stone Cold has provided alternative commentaries for his famous matches against Bret Hart at WrestleMania 13 and The Rock at WrestleMania 16 and these podcasts offered an unique and interesting viewpoint on these great contests. Stone Cold does such a great job of breaking down his matches that I would have him host the show and each episode is a different superstar looking at one of their famous matches. Imagine, Stone Cold breaking down the WrestleMania 10 Ladder Match with Shawn and Razor or detailing one of Edge and Christian’s great TLC matches.

Interactive: Build a Pay-Per-View feature.

So us wrestling fans love to create our own worlds. The creations suites in the WWE 2K games are often considered the most popular features. Then why not bring an added sense of interactivity to the Network? Create a feature where subscribers can take matches from different events and combine them into one Pay-Per-View that they can then share across social media. They can give the PPV a name and upload a logo. It is taking the network in a whole new direction, but the added interactivity may persuade hardcore fans to subscribe and sharing these events on social media is a slice of free promotion for the network.

Other Promotions:

OK, so WWE isn’t going to start airing TNA iMPACT on the network. But I would love to see deals to bring the work of other promotions to the network. There could be some cross-promotion with NJPW and their version of the network, allowing NJPW subscribers access to your content and vice-versa. I don’t know if this financially viable for the WWE but as a fan I’d sure love to see it. I doubt this would EVER happen, it makes very little sense that WWE would promote other companies but it would be a massive draw for wrestling fans.
