the chest, but he runs right into a back drop from Angle. Angle goes for another pin but Styles kicks out at one. Angle locks in another side headlock, rearing back on the mat.
Styles fights out of the hold and both men miss dropkicks, but connect with simultaneous cross body blocks. Both men crash to the mat.
Styles catches Angle with a big kick, but misses a springboard move. Styles comes right back with a nasty across the knee neckbreaker that's good for another two count. Styles hits a springboard forearm to Angle's face for another near fall. Styles tries for the Styles clash, but Angle blocks it with a back body drop. Angle charges, but Styles side-steps him and Angle crashes to the outside. Styles springboards to the outside with a flying forearm shot to Angle.
Styles sends Angle back into the ring, but on his way in, he's caught with a huge kick to the ribs. Angle brings Styles in with a big suplex and he goes for the pin, but is only able to get a two count. Angle picks Styles up and seats him on the top rope. Angle goes up after AJ, but Styles fights him off. Angle runs right back in and up the ropes, sending AJ flying with a huge belly to belly superplex. Angle pins Styles but it's still not enough for three. Angle tries for the Angle slam, but Styles counters out and hits the Pele. Styles hits the Styles clash and goes for the pin but Angle kicks out at two!
Styles tries for a German suplex, but Angle counters with a German suplex of his own. Both men are slow to get to their feet, fighting on their knees, then on their feet in the middle of the ring. Angle hits an uppercut, but runs into an uppercut. Angle avoids the moonsault DDT, but AJ avoids a suplex from angle. AJ rolls up Angle, but Angle kicks out and comes right back with the Angle slam, but AJ is able to kick out at two.
Angle picks Styles up and teases the Styles clash. Styles fights it off with a back body drop. Angle goes for the ankle lock instead, but AJ kicks it off and tries for a hurricanrana. Angle blocks and hits the Styles clash, putting Styles down for another two count. Styles rolls AJ to his back and heads up to the top. Angle tries for the moonsault, but way overshoots it and Styles moves. Styles hits a springboard flipping senton, but it's still not enough to keep Angle down for three.
Angle heads to the top. Kaz and Daniels are down and cause a distraction, taking out Styles legs. Angle hits the Angle slam, but Styles still wont stay down. Angle locks in the ankle lock, and grapevines the leg, and Styles is forced to tap out.
Winner: Kurt Angle
After the match, Daniels and Kaz leap into the ring and attack Styles. Angle is quick to fend of Styles' attackers though, sending both Kaz and Daniels from the ring. Angle offers his hand to AJ and helps him to his feet. AJ and Styles hug in the middle of the ring, and Angle raises Styles arm.
- In an attempt to kill more time, we get a recap of the Lockdown match between Kurt Angle and Mr. Anderson that saw Angle go for a ridiculous moonsault of the top of the cage, and go on to win the match.
After some more time-killing from Taz and Tenay, they send it to the back to JB who says that according to a poll, 76% of fans expect to see RVD win the title tonight. Bobby Roode says something doesn't feel right, and that's the fact that he's talking to JB without his title around his waist. He says the stipulation tonight is a ladder match, and his pride and joy is hanging over the ring. He says RVD thinks he's going to outsmart him tonight, but he's dead wrong. Hogan can try to stack the deck, but RVD's plan wont work and no one can stop him. After he climbs the ladder and retains tonight, he'll climb into the history books because in ten days he'll go down as the longest reigning World Champion in Impact Wrestling History, and there's nothing anyone can do about it.

After running down the Tale of the Tape, and going over how RVD made it into this match, which I'm pretty sure they've already explained several times tonight, RVD is the first man to make his way out to the ring. Van Dam gets a good reaction from the crowd as he makes his way out to challenge for the title that he never lost. Bobby Roode is out next, and the champ gets a bit of a mixed reaction, and it sounds like a couple of fans are chanting for him.
After formal ring introductions from JB, I think we're finally done with all of the stalling, and ready to get this match underway.
The bell rings and RVD and Roode jaw with each other. Roode scores a kick to the gut, sending RVD into the ropes. RVD comes back with a series of kicks, taking Roode to the mat with a kick to the side of the head. RVD sends Roode to the outside over the top rope. RVD follows out and looks under the ring before going to grab a ladder. Roode catches RVD with a boot and sends him into the barricade. RVD avoids being sent into the ring post and sends Roode into the barricade instead. RVD suplexes Roode over the guard rail and heads up to the apron, hitting a big leg drop across Roode's back.
Van Dam grab a ladder and sets it up against the ring post. RVD heads back into the ring, but Roode kicks the middle rope into RVD's crotch on the way in. Roode hits a DDT and lay out RVD. Roode heads to the outside and grabs a ladder, but when he goes to bring it in, RVD dropkicks the ladder into his face. Van Dam launches himself over the top, crashing down into Roode.
RVD brings the ladder into the ring and goes to climb it, but Roode stops him and sends Van Dam crashing into the ladder. Roode sets up the ladder in the corner before stomping away at RVD. Roode chops and punches RVD, but RVD reverses an Irish whip and sends Roode crashing into the ladder in the corner. RVD props the ladder in between the second and... (Continues on next page)
