Impact Wrestling (5/8) Results: Angle vs. Young, Bully Ray Returns! & Much More

Welcome to Impact Wrestling, the show opens with Eric Young standing in the middle of the ring. He demands the special guest referee for his world title match against Kurt Angle be announced immediately. He claims he is owed the reveal because he has been number one contender for five weeks. Bully Ray’s theme hits and he stands at the ramp wearing his vest over a referee shirt.

Ray asks, “Do you know who I am?” and officially announces he is the special guest referee. We cut to a video promo hyping up tonight’s event.

EC3 makes his way down the ramp with Tyrus. Josh Matthews welcomes fans to the show. EC3 grabs a microphone and claims fans want him to be a world champion and to compete in an arm wrestling contest with Mr. Anderson. Anderson makes his entrance and unveils the results of the match poll. Eighty-five percent voted for a falls count anywhere match.

Falls Count Anywhere Match: Mr. Anderson vs. EC3 (w/Tyrus)

Anderson rushes down the ile and clears EC3 and Tyrus of the ring quickly. Tyrus eventually proves the numbers game to be too much on the outside. Anderson executes a Mic Check to Tyrus on the ring post. He goes after EC3 and tosses him to the barricade, followed by a low blow.

EC3 attempted a roll up, but Anderson kicked out. EC3 looked to get Anderson in a spine buster position, but he transitioned into a backdrop. Anderson recovers and lands a steamroller on a pile of chairs. They return to the ring with Anderson gaining steam. Tyrus returns and attacks Anderson with a splash in the corner and a spike or punch. EC3 covers Anderson for the three count.

Winner: EC3

Backstage, Angle, and Ray are discussing the main event. He asks if Ray will call the match down the middle. Ray replies, “Do you know who I am?”

-Commercial Break-

We return from the break with Gail Kim approaching Awesome Kong in the back. She asks Kong if she is with her and Kong nods her head as if to say, “yes.” We are reminded of tonight’s knockouts tag team match featuring Gail Kim and Awesome Kong taking on the Dollhouse.

We cut to the entrance of The Beat Down Clan, who are wearing masks. MVP grabs a mic and says he has a fourth mask for Homicide and claims he was blindsided in the Bronx and forced to have shoulder surgery. He hints that The Rising may have had something to do with the attack. MVP says the government has used the word “thug” as a codename for “n—-“

The Rising makes their way to the middle of the ramp. Drew Galloway denies having a role in ambushing Homicide. He says anyone could jump Homicide because he isn’t the friendliest person around. He hints at Kenny King being involved in the attack. MVP says he isn’t buying it and that all he cares about is money and the prestige of championship gold. The promo ends with Galloway and MVP agreeing to a singles match. This is followed by the factions brawling in the ring. The Rising clears the ring.

-Commercial Break-

Singles Match: Drew Galloway (w/Mica, Eli Drake) vs. MVP (w/ Kenny King, Low Ki)

MVP is in control of Galloway in the early going. He attacks the arm of Galloway. MVP falls to the outside and both groups and talking trash. MVP regains control. He swings Galloway to a guardrail. Mica gets in MVP’s face on the outside. They return to the ring and MVP fails to get a three count after several pin attempts. Galloway nails a DDT for the win.

Winner: Drew Galloway

Eric Young attacks Galloway with a chair after the match. The BDC assaults The Rising, who attempted to protect Galloway. Young points to MVP and says, “You owe me.”

James Storm is carrying a gift for a “very special friend.” He promises more gifts that will be unwrapped soon.

-Commercial Break-

Storm is in the ring and introduces Mickie James. Storm praises James for making the jump from wrestling to motherhood. He also mentions her music career and gives her a guitar. He has a cameraman take pictures with James. Magnus comes out to the ring. Storm says he has a gift for Magnus. He gives him a helmet reminded Magnus of a failed gimmick. Magnus pushes him and Storm says it’s all “fun and games.”

Magnus leaves the ring with Mickie. Storm says he had one more gift for their son Donovan. He says it’s a gift from uncle James. Magnus storms back in the ring and bashes Storm over the head with the guitar. James looks concerned while Storm gets up smiling.

-Commercial Break-

MVP wants Young to explain why he attacked The Rising and helped the BDC. Young says he wants his world title and says the BDC owes him. He reminds him that as a team, the BDC helped take the title from Booby Roode.

Robert Irvine, Gail Kim’s husband, had a live show in Chicago. Taryn Terrell was spotted after the show taking selfies. Kim warns her to leave.

Knockouts Tag Team Match: The Dollhouse vs. Awesome Kong and Gail Kim

Matthews calls Gail Kim and Awesome Kong an “all-star team.” Kim gets an early advantage on Jade and tags in Kong. Kim and Kong get into a brief argument but work together to get the better of the Dollhouse. Marti Bell takes control of Kim. Jade is tagged in to continue the onslaught. Fans chant, “We want Kong.”

Bell and Jade try double-teaming Kim, but it backfires. Kim gets a submission on Jade, but it’s broken up by Terrell. Bell tries to knock Kong off the apron, but Kong shoves her into Kim, who nails Bell. Kong is tagged in and body slams Terrell. Kong attempts her finisher on Terrell, but Bell and Jade stop it. Kong lands the Impact Buster on Jade. Terrell sneak in a pinfall win on Kim during the chaos.

Winners: The Dollhouse

After the match, Kim lands Eat Defeat on Bell. Kong follows it up with the Impact Buster on Bell.

We cut to a video showing the tag team title win of The Hardyz. A video is then played of Jeff breaking his leg while riding a motorcycle. Matt Hardy is shown backstage holding the tag team titles.

-Commercial Break-

Backstage, James tells Magnus she doesn’t appreciate hitting Storm over the head with a guitar. Magnus says he doesn’t trust Storm and feels disrespected by him. James says Magnus disrespected her.

Matt Hardy enters the ring holding the tag team titles. He is joined by Jeremy Borash for an interview. Hardy says Jeff is in a lot of pain. He wants fans to know that the Jeff Hardy you see on television is the same Jeff in real life. He announces The Hardyz are forced to vacate their titles. He leaves the belts in the center of the ring and exits the ring. As he heads up the ramp, Austin Aries and Bobby Roode make their way down and give Matt a fist bump and handshake.

Aries says he hasn’t forgot leaving Impact Wrestling on a stretcher. He warns Young that he will get his revenge. Aries says he and Roode are now focused on the tag team titles. Aries says he and Roode are the most prolific world champions in TNA history. Roode says the tag titles deserve to be defended. He puts himself and Aries over by saying they are the best team in the world. Davey Richards makes his way to the ring and looks pissed.

Richards says himself and Eddie Edwards are the truly the best team in the world. Aries says there are no Wolves without Edwards. Richards said Wolves are always in a pack and be brings out Edwards. Edwards says his heel is better, the crutches are gone, and he is now cleared to wrestle. Edwards challenges Roode and Aries to a best of five series for the tag team titles. Roode and Aries accept and shake hands with the Wolves.

-Commercial Break-

We return from the break and Galloway approaches Hardy. Galloway says they’re both alike and says they never back down from a fight. He hints at wanting to bring Matt to The Rising.

Angelina Love is in the ring. She says everyone is asking her on the various happenings in TNA. She says the only thing she wants to talk about is herself. She claims to be the greatest knockout ever. Velvet Sky appears in the crowd.

Love questions why Sky is in TNA. Love pokes fun and Sky’s new look. Sky doesn’t look amused. Love hugs Sky and makes excuses for not getting back to her. Love says without her, Sky is nothing. She demands Sky say something, instead Sky gives her a spear. Security restrains Sky, who remains emotionless.

Young and Ray are in the back. Young wants to know if Ray will screw him out of his title shot. Ray says his job is to raise the hand of either Young or Angle. He says the fans want to see both of them kill each other.

TNA World Title Match: Kurt Angle © vs. Eric Young with special guest referee Bully Ray

Young gains a quick edge over Angle. Angle starts to gain steam, but Young rakes his eyes. Young goes up the top rope, but Angle leaps and gets a belly-to-belly suplex. They go to the outside and Ray urges both wrestlers to get back in the ring. The BDC appear at the top of the ramp and observe the match.

-Commercial Break-

Angle gains control following the break. They exchanges forearm shots and Angle eventually wins the battle with a backdrop. He lands five german suplexes in a row. The BDC have now made their way to ringside. Angle gets an ankle lock, but Young reaches the ropes with the help of MVP. Young low blows Ray and the BDC takes advantage by attacking Angle. Chris Melendez attempts to make the save, but he is outnumbered. The Rising evens the odds and chases off the BDC.

Young attempts to land a piledriver on Ray, but he is reversed with a backdrop. Angle recovers and hits the Angle Slam on Young. The challenger kicked out. Young countered a second angle slam and delivered a piledriver. This time the champion kicked out. Young goes for a cross body from the top rope, but is reversed into an ankle lock. Young taps out.

Winner: And still TNA world champion: Kurt Angle

Angle celebrated in the ring to close the show.
