WWE SmackDown (7/22/15) Results: Rollins vs. Cesaro

Welcome to Thursday night SmackDown, we are shown a recap video package of this past Monday’s episode of RAW. Dean Ambrose kicks off the show by walking to the ring. Sheamus follows and cuts a promo while making his entrance. He said that Ambrose is a coward because he has tried to duck fighting him in the past. There’s no way to hide or escape tonight. Ambrose said that Sheamus does look stupid and now we have a match. Great set up!

Singles Match: Sheamus vs. Dean Ambrose.

They lock up, Ambrose with a drop kick and a clothesline to send Sheamus to the floor. Ambrose went for a dive, but ate a forearm shot for his troubles. Ambrose jumped to the apron and hit a DDT to Sheamus.

-Commercial Break-

We’re back with Sheamus going for a top rope suplex, but Ambros shoved him off. Sheamus then kicked Ambrose off the top rope. He went to town on the knee of Ambrose. Ambrose no-sold a forearm shot and connected with a clothesline off the ropes. Ambrose with a splash in the corner and rolled up Sheamus for 2. Ambrose ducked a Brogue kick and Sheamus went flying to the floor. Ambrose with a dive through the ropes taking out Sheamus. Back in the ring, Ambrose went to the top rope, he hit an elbow drop. Bray Wyatt walked out to the stage, this distracted Ambrose, Luke Harper was seen standing on the announce table. Ambrose went after Harper, but ate a Brogue kick by Sheamus. Back in the ring, Sheamus hit another Brogue kick for the win.

Winner: Sheamus

Singles Match: Neville vs. Adam Rose.

They lock up, Rose kicked him in the gut and hit a snap suplex for 2. Rose off the middle rope with a hurricanrana that sends Neville to the floor. Rose went for a dive, but ate a forearm shot. Neville off the ropes and hit a spin kick, an up kick and a drop kick. Wow. Neville with a kick to the head of Rose that dumped him to the floor. Neville with a springboard dive taking out Rose. Back in the ring, Neville hit the Red Arrow for the win.

Winner: Neville

Post-match, Stardust cut a backstage promo about how he will bring Neville back down from the sky and straight down to reality.

-Commercial Break-

King Barrett cuts a promo in the ring about being the real king of the ring in WWE. He said that The Undertaker returning is not the biggest thing to take away from the battleground, is him remaining KOTR should be.

Kevin Owens cut a promo in the ring about how everywhere he goes, he hears three words. “Tap, Owens, Tap.” Owens said that he gave John Cena the toughest fight of his career. He said that his motto is, “live to fight another day,” unlike Cena’s “never give up.” He said that he has kids and a was not willing to risk a career threatening injury to Cena. He said that he doesn’t really care about what people have to say. He said that once Sheamus left on Monday night, he left too when he’s team is one man short. He said that if Rusev wasn’t trying to get to second base with Lana, then he would know that.

Singles Match: Rusev vs. Kevin Owens.

We’re back with Owens attacking Rusev, who jumped in the ring. Rusev fought back with a forearm shot and then hit a fallaway slam. Rusev missed a splash in the corner. Owens hit a clothesline and then a cannonball for 2. Owens with the code breaker and then locked in a headlock. Rusev fought out of the submission and kicked Owens in the face. Rusev with a swinging powerslam. Rusev with a spinning back kick and fired up the crowd with boos. Rusev went for the Accolade, but Owens rolled out of the ring and walked to the back.

Winner: Rusev by countout.

Cesaro cut a promo about how he has not seen his family in 11 years, but he made it to WWE. He almost beat John Cena and tonight he goes up against Seth Rollins. “Dreams do come true.” Kevin Owens walked up and mocked him for having dreams. Owens said that Cesaro abandoned his family. Cesaro mocked him for abandoning all of his matches. Owens said that he will be going to catering to watch Cesaro loose. Cesaro said do what you do best and walk, Owens, walk. Great segment.

Tag Team Match: The Bellas vs. Naomi and Sasha Banks.

Nikki and Naomi start things off. Niki worked over the left arm of Naomi. She tagged in Brie, which saw them hit a double flapjack on Naomi. Brie picked her up, but Naomi pushed her into the corner. Banks tagged in, but kicked in the gut. Nikki tagged in and hit an arm drag followed by a leg scissors submission. Brie tagged in and hit a missile drop kick for 2. Brie went for a running knee, but Banks rolled out of the ring.

-Commercial Break-

We’re back with Banks and Naomi in control of Brie Bella. Moments later, Brie fought back and got the hot tag to Nikki. Nikki with a series of clotheslines to Naomi. She followed it up with an Alabama Slam on her for 2. Nikki went for the Rack Attack, but Banks speared her. Brie took out Banks to the floor. Back in the ring, Naomi rolled up Nikki for 2. Nikki with a big right hand, then the Rack Attack for the win.

Winners: Bellas.

The RAW Rebound is shown.

Main Event: Seth Rollins vs. Cesaro.

Both men have a technical start to this match. Cesaro hit a press slam, but missed an uppercut and was sent to the floor by Rollins. Rollins then hit a dive through the ropes to send us to break.

-Commercial Break-

We’re back from break with Rollins in control of Cesaro with a headlock. Cesaro powered his way out of it, but Rollins shoved his head into the corner. Rollins went to the top rope and missed a dive. Cesaro with a belly-to-belly suplex. Cesaro with an uppercut in the corner and then hits several to Rollins. Cesaro hit a suplex to Rollins for 2. Cesaro hit a crossbody off the top rope for 2. Cesaro missed an uppercut and Rollins hit Cesaro with a superkick for 2. Cesaro ducked a clothesline and hit a drop kick for 2. Cesaro went to the top rope, but Rollins knocked him down. Rollins went for the pedigree, but Cesaro blocked and locked in the sharpshooter then transitioned into the crossface. Rollins powered out of it. Cesaro hit an uppercut to Rollins for 2. Cesaro went for the giant swing, but Rollins poked him in the eye. Rollins hit the pedigree on Cesaro for the win.

Winner: Rollins.

Post-match, Kevin Owens ran down to the ring and attacked Cesaro. Owens hit the pop-up powerbomb on Cesaro to close the show.
