For those of you wondering what's going on with former ECW champ Bobby Lashley's MMA career, Yahoo Sports features a video interview with him that you might want to check out at this link.

Lashley said that he would be signing to fight in December as the AFL league he's signed with doesn't look to be running any events anytime soon, so they will be lending him out to fight in Miami. I got the impression watching the video that he's eager to train and fight and learn and wants things to start to come together.

He referred to WWE as "a job that I had" and asked that MMA fans don't judge him on it. He said he made a lot of money and would do it again, but trained for legitimate wrestling for 18 years and training the last several months in boxing and jiu-jitsu. He noted that he is hurt that after all the years he's trained, the fact he wrestled professionally means that "some guy who took a few jiu-jitsu classes" has more credibility than him. He said that if he was a teacher, he wouldn't receive the same criticism and doesn't regret working for WWE.

Lashley said that he wanted to "learn the game" before he stepped into a cage. He said that he wouldn't be cutting promos (although he should certainly take whatever he learned in WWE and use it to the best of his ability).

In regard to Brock Lesnar and comparisons, Lashley said that he's never met him, but you can't argue with his success and respects that Lesnar doesn't half-ass it to try and accomplish his goals. He said you have to give Lesnar credit for doing what he does and thinks he's admirable for dedicating himself to MMA the way he does.
