The majority of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s speech at the Hall Of Fame ceremony on Saturday was written by RAW lead writer Brian Gewirtz. Rock arrived late Friday night and spent portions of that night and Saturday working on the material, which mostly consisted of bullet points and one-liners. Gewirtz is responsible for writing the bulk of Rock’s material throughout his WWE career.
Nobody in WWE seemed happen when Rock’s speech lasted so long, but apparently nobody from the production team told him to “wrap it up” as they did with Flair. The edited version of Rock’s speech that aired on USA Network was a lot shorter than his actual speech at the ceremony.
