How Will Brock Lesnar Return to WWE?
3. An Almighty Match-Up
As it sits currently, WWE Raw is in a period of drought. With the former-flagship show amongst WWE’s programming reaching record low viewership ratings, there are a lot of different ways we could instill new life on the red brand. However, I think there is one simple way to do this – and it involves our favorite Beast Incarnate. Throughout his career, WWE Champion Bobby Lashley has often been compared to The Beast. Ever since winning the WWE Championship on Raw from The Miz, rumors of a Brock Lesnar vs. Bobby Lashley contest for the world title have swirled around the community. I believe that this is the much-needed shot-in-the-arm that the red brand needs to reattract its dying fanbase.
Personally, I don’t see Lashley or Reigns dropping their respective championships for the rest of the year – and this builds perfectly to a Survivor Series match between the two. While we’ve already covered how Lesnar could return to face-off against Reigns, how could Lesnar possibly return to antagonize Lashley? In the midst of the main event match between Reigns and Lashley, Reigns accidentally spears the referee for the contest. With the referee down, we hear the most frightening music in professional wrestling. The music of Brock Lesnar is cued, and Lesnar is sprinting down to ringside. After hitting the ring, Lesnar drops Lashley with an F-5 allowing Reigns to pin him for the victory.
When asked in a backstage segment on Raw the next night, Lesnar claims to be tired of the comparisons between himself and The Almighty. Lesnar wants to put an end to those comparisons by defeating Lashley and taking his title. This leads to a match at Royal Rumble where Lashley defends his championship against Lesnar… and he wins! You could easily extend this feud as long as you wanted, but this victory over Lesnar is key for Lashley. Lashley getting a hard-fought victory over a talent like Lesnar would legitimize his championship reign. This plan accomplishes a dream match and builds Lashley’s star power further than anyone could have imagined just a year ago.
