James Brian Hellwig, the man behind The Ultimate Warrior, has passed away at the age of 54.

However I refuse to mourn. The Warrior wouldn’t have wanted that. Of course I’ll miss the many memories that could have been. He still had a lot in the tank. But here’s how I’ll remember him:

I’ll remember him as the man who ended the Honky Tonk Man’s historic Intercontinental Championship reign.

I’ll remember him as the man who defeated Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania VI for the WWE Championship and being the first man to hold both the WWE and Intercontinental Championships at the same time.

I’ll remember him as the man who had an epic showdown with Macho Man Randy Savage and forced him to retire.

I’ll remember him as the man who would sprint to the ring night in and night out and shake the ropes to the point that it looked like the whole ring was shaking and you thought the ropes were gonna break.

I’ll remember him as the greatest hype man of all time.

James Hellwig may have passed away, but the Ultimate Warrior still lives. He lives through his fans. The voices of the warriors are still speaking.

Every man’s heart one day beats its final beat. his lungs breath their final breath. and if what that man did in his life makes the blood pulse through the body of others and makes them bleed deeper in something larger than life, than his essence, his spirit, will be immortalized”
