Match Predictions and Heat Index Anticipation Levels

Temperature Scale = Scorching > Hot > Lukewarm > Temperate > Chilly > Cold > Freezing

Heat Index is my assessment of how interesting the segment is, including how excited I am for the match and how intriguing the feud has been. The hotter, the better. Scorching translates to not being able to wait to see it, while Freezing means I couldn’t possibly care less and think it will be awful.

AEW WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH:
Jon Moxley (c) vs. MJF

Heat Index = Lukewarm
Prediction: MJF wins.

Thoughts: Moxley’s had a long enough run. It wasn’t as amazing as it could have been in an era where there were actual fans, but I feel like he’s proven himself by now and it’s time for something different. Plus, if not MJF, who else is going to beat Moxley? Every new guy they bring in like Brian Cage just gets hot-shotted to the title scene, loses, and becomes a midcarder. Admittedly, I don’t think this is going to be a particularly great match as far as in-ring quality goes. I hope I’m wrong.

MIMOSA MAYHEM MATCH:
Chris Jericho vs. Orange Cassidy

Heat Index = Hot
Prediction: Chris Jericho wins.

Thoughts: This has been a fun feud that I wouldn’t have imagined would be at All Out this time last year. Jericho goes from being the world champion to feuding with the stoic comedy guy. Crazy. But that’s in NO way a knock on Orange Cassidy. He may actually be my absolute favorite person in the entire company. Immediately, right out of the gate, I was a fan of his, and I’ve only grown to enjoy his work even more. I hope we see him win via tossing Jericho into the pool, as that’s the most satisfying outcome, but I think Jericho will win by pin or submission, only to be thrown in the tank after the fact anyway. Win-win.

AEW WOMEN’S WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH:
Hikaru Shida (c) vs. Thunder Rosa

Heat Index = Lukewarm
Prediction: Hikaru Shida wins.

Thoughts: I haven’t seen more than a match or two of Thunder Rosa’s. What I did see seemed okay, so hey, this is neat. Having the NWA champion fighting for the AEW women’s title is a bit strange, as it seems like NWA is just lending out their best so she can lose and make that company not look as good. However, I’m imagining they have a rather even match and Shida comes out victorious, but shakes Rosa’s hand at the end. Hell, maybe Rosa then lays her out or something to save value a bit.

AEW WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH:
Hangman Adam Page and Kenny Omega (c) vs. FTR

Heat Index = Scorching
Prediction: FTR wins.

Thoughts: How good is this going to be? Seriously. This is probably going to steal the show and be the best match of the night and I don’t think anything else will come even close. FTR should definitely come out of this with the belts. If they don’t, AEW is nuts.

21-MAN CASINO BATTLE ROYALE MATCH

Heat Index = Scorching
Prediction: Someone not currently announced wins.

Thoughts: I dig battle royals. They’re almost always fun, even if they’re calamities. Since these actually have repercussions with title shots on the line, it makes them more valuable. I can get invested in it as I’m curious who will get a chance at either Moxley or MJF. It could be a new person, too, which is always interesting. Since we won’t know every participant, I’ll say that’s probably who will win. However, if we had to go with just the regular roster, I’ll lean more toward Lance Archer if Moxley retains, Allin if MJF wins the belt.

EIGHT-MAN TAG TEAM MATCH:
Dark Order vs. The Natural Nightmares, Matt Cardona and Scorpio Sky

Heat Index = Cold
Prediction: Dark Order wins.

Thoughts: No Cody. TNT Championship isn’t on the line. This is just Dark Order’s top four (which isn’t saying much considering who the other members are) against two enhancement guys, Zack Ryder (who needs to get a footing before he’s viewed as anything but still a midcarder – even though I’m a fan of the guy, it’s true) and Scorpio Sky who is randomly inserted in here. Why is this even a thing?

TOOTH AND NAIL MATCH:
Britt Baker vs. Big Swole

Heat Index = Temperate
Prediction: Big Swole wins.

Thoughts: Their feud’s been okay, but I haven’t been wowed by anything Baker’s done, so I don’t think this will be amazing. I’m also a little confused if this is going to be a pre-filmed thing at Baker’s office, or if it’ll be an actual match in the ring. The former is more interesting, but could be a total mess. The latter would be less ridiculous, but could be boring in comparison.

TAG TEAM MATCH:
Jurassic Express vs. The Young Bucks

Heat Index = Temperate
Prediction: The Young Bucks win.

Thoughts: Both teams are great, but this match means absolutely nothing. They aren’t feuding and there are no consequences that should come out of this. It’s just a scenario of “Remember how these guys work well together and you’ve enjoyed their matches before? Well, wanna see that again?”

BROKEN RULES MATCH:
Matt Hardy vs. Sammy Guevara

Heat Index = Lukewarm
Prediction: Matt Hardy wins.

Thoughts: The stipulation here is that if Hardy loses, he has to leave AEW. That pretty much spells out that he’s going to win, right? In particular, he’s lost the previous encounters, so there’s no reason to have him lose this. That kind of ruins it, as even if he does lose for the sake of a swerve, I won’t buy into it just being some bullshit where he says the Matt Hardy persona is gone, but he’ll stay in AEW as Big Money Matt or something. Here’s hoping the match itself is fun with a lot of good spots, but that nobody does anything too dangerous so as to get the other person (or themselves) hurt.

OVERALL PPV:
How excited am I for the event as a whole?

Heat Index = Lukewarm

Thoughts: I thought I’d be much more into this event a few months ago than I am now. With some injuries and other things getting in the way, I’m feeling underwhelmed. It’s certainly not looking awful, but there are a few matches that feel more like they would be better suited for Dynamite than AEW’s WrestleMania.

What do you think is going to happen at AEW All Out? Which matches are you most excited to see? Keep the discussion going in the comments below!
