Welcome back to another Monday Morning Q&A where I toss out some questions to get a feel of how you guys and gals are feeling about certain topics.

So here are 5 questions I’d like to toss out for this week. I’ll give my answers, too, but the key here is that I want to know what YOU think! So make sure you chime in!

1) What did you think of Vince McMahon’s appearance on Friday Night SmackDown?

Very tone deaf and braggadocious. It really accomplished nothing at all but to make him seem like he’s being flippant about this. That’s a negative. It broadcasts that he’s arrogant and thinks he’s untouchable.

If he had done anything beyond what he did, you could justify it more. For instance, if he introduced that Stephanie would be taking charge, you could say “Maybe he did that so everyone would know of the transition of power.” But to just say “Welcome to SmackDown. I’m not going anywhere.” I don’t think this was a smart decision.

2) We’re getting Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns again. Yay? Nay?

If you’ve followed anything I’ve done for the past decade, you’ve seen me say FOR YEARS how I’ve been way past the “I’m tired of talking about this Lesnar/Reigns feud”, for years. There have been a few times where I thought we were finally done with this storyline, only for it to come back a few months later.

This is very clearly WWE’s panic button, and I’m not at all interested in seeing the next month’s build of the same promos leading to the same match that we’ve seen a dozen times now.

3) Thumbs up or thumbs down for Sammy Guevara and Tay Conti joining The Jericho Appreciation Society?

Thumbs up. Sammy Guevara has always struck me as more of the sports entertainer type, if you’re going to split the roster in half with that and “authentic pro wrestler” as the opposite (despite how he’s great in the ring; you can be both). After turning heel, both he and Tay Conti are better off turning into the skid and being associated with the biggest group of assholes on the roster.

This also opens up an opportunity for Daniel Garcia to possibly be booted out of the team or quit it and join Blackpool Combat Club, instead. That strikes me as an overall better fit for him, even though he’s been doing more than fine

4) Tomoaki Honma, Clark Connors, Tomohiro Ishii and Yoshinobu Kanemaru will be competing for the final spot in the All-Atlantic Championship match. Who do you think will get that fourth spot?

I know nothing at all about Honma, Connors and Kanemaru. I’m not super familiar with Ishii, either, but I know I’ve seen him before and I equate him to New Japan more than any of the others, from an outsider’s perspective.

To me, the goal of this show should have been to put the biggest and best names from both companies against each other, not to phone it in. It’s already coming across very much like it’s just a D-level event in comparison to what it could have been, so if they toss in people I’ve never heard of, the more that happens, the less excited I’ll be.

5) Jay White says he won’t defend the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship against either Adam Page or Adam Cole. Do you think we’re actually getting another match other than a Triple Threat? If so, what do you think will be booked instead?

I 100% expect it to just be White vs. Page vs. Cole. This is professional wrestling. They’ve done nothing to set up anything else but a Triple Threat. Even though White’s said he flat out won’t defend the title against either of them, how ridiculous is it going to be if he just says “Instead, I’m going to fight Jungle Boy.” or something? The match would be great, but it would just upset people.

This is more so just an example of someone dropping the ball with telling an interesting story. They’re thinking the “gotcha” of “we told you it wouldn’t happen, just to say it would happen the next week” is an interesting enough angle. It’s the same poor writing that you see in horror movies where they think a jump scare is anything but a cheap trick, or explosions in an action movie trying to mask the lack of plot.

But hey, the match should be good, right? That’s the lynch pin for everything on this card. “Shut up and enjoy the in-ring product. This is a bonus pay-per-view.”
