Best Wrestling Santa Claus? Monday Morning Q&A Christmas Edition

0

Welcome back to another Monday Morning Q&A where I toss out some questions to get a feel of how you guys and gals are feeling about certain topics.

So here are 5 questions I’d like to toss out for this week. I’ll give my answers, too, but the key here is that I want to know what YOU think! So make sure you chime in!

1) What was the best wrestling related gift you were ever given (whether it be Christmas or another holiday)?

Back in 2011, a friend of mine gifted me a ticket to the WWE TLC event as a Christmas gift. This ended up being the one where Zack Ryder won the United States Championship and Daniel Bryan cashed in his Money in the Bank contract on Big Show for the World Heavyweight Championship.

It had been my first live event since something like 1998 or 1999, as I had gotten out of professional wrestling from around 2000-2006. My group of friends all had a lot of fun, I got to meet some fellow fans and become friends with them, and it was an overall great return to seeing live events after so long away from it.

2) If you could wish for one thing in professional wrestling to happen in the next year, what would it be?

Selflessly, I’d go for something about nobody getting injured and/or fired. That’s if this was a reality, as I’d feel bad if I said anything otherwise.

However, selfishly, and ignoring that, what I’d wish for is for WWE to suffer a massive blow to their current mindset that forces them to wake up and actually improve. I don’t want it to be a permanent problem or anything with lasting negative repercussions (losing their placement on USA Network for Raw or whatever), but I’d love for Vince McMahon and the powers that be to get a moment of clarity about what’s going on. They seem to be so shortsighted and thinking about these budget cuts for whatever mysterious reason and thinking that they can sustain themselves on the WWE name in general, rather than having any actual good television, and likely thinking the Superstars don’t matter as much as the overall company branding, that I want them to realize how that’s completely not true.

If that’s too broad of a concept, my one wish would be that they book a good Road to WrestleMania (including the show itself) rather than just relying on a fuck-finish for Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar at Day 1 just to set up yet another rematch at WrestleMania, and thinking that that one match is good enough to coast with everything else for 4 months.

3) Do you have any favorite “Santa Claus” appearances in pro wrestling history?

It used to be fun back in the day when Stone Cold Steve Austin would get involved and stun Santa, but I think I’d have to go with the general idea of Mick Foley in character. He loves Christmas so much and you can tell how much fun he has with it. Not only does he look the best overall with his size and the beard and whatnot, the nickname Saint Mick is just perfect.

4) Bear Bronson donned the red costume to win the 24/7 Championship on Monday Night Raw back in 2019. If you had to cast a Santa from the current WWE or AEW roster, who would you think would be the best fit?

Outside of Bear Bronson picking it back up, the best fit for AEW in my mind would be The Butcher based on looks alone. However, if I wanted to go the funny route, Evil Uno or Orange Cassidy would make for some funny versions.

A few names who stand out to me on the WWE roster are Big E, Otis, Kevin Owens (less so now that he’s a heel) and Ivar (probably the best option as far as looks).

Some funny options, though, would be Dexter Lumis, Riddle, Sami Zayn, Odyssey Jones, Madcap Moss, Drew McIntyre and boy would it be hilarious to just see a heel Tribal Chief Roman Reigns dressed up, giving out coal to anyone who doesn’t acknowledge him.

5) Santa’s Slay with Goldberg. Christmas Bounty with The Miz. Santa’s Little Helper with The Miz and Paige. Hulk Hogan’s Santa with Muscles. Santino Marella in Jingle All the Way 2. If you were tied to a chair A Clockwork Orange style and had to watch one of these this weekend, which one would you pick?

I haven’t seen a single one of these, thankfully. None of them are on my list to actually take the time out to watch, as they all look awful. However, if I’m going to watch a bad movie, I’m going to want to watch something absolutely dreadful to make it worth the while, instead of just bad. Jingle All the Way 2, I’d imagine, is just a soulless and unfunny thing that I’d hate the most but wouldn’t have fun ripping apart. The same goes for the two with The Miz. Nope, if I’m picking, I’m going with Santa’s Slay or Santa with Muscles. One of those two has to be laughably bad.
