Bold Predictions For The 2016 Royal Rumble Match

The 29th edition of the Royal Rumble will emanate from the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida on Sunday, January 24th, 2016 where it will be headlined by the 30-man Royal Rumble match. The winner of the Rumble usually gets a shot at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania, however this year the grand prize for winning the Rumble is the title itself.

And so without further delay, here’s what I think will happen:

Kane and Big Show will dominate the match.

The World’s Largest Athlete and The Big Red Monster are considered favorites of Vince McMahon and Kevin Dunn and if their performance in last year’s Rumble match meant anything, expect these two men to outlast much of the youth movement.

Stardust will draw the dreaded #14 spot.

Rikishi. Doink the Clown. Marty Janetty. Rey Mysterio. Goldust. What do these men have in common? They have all entered in the #14 spot during the Royal Rumble match at one point or another. Of all the entry numbers in the Royal Rumble, the #14 spot is considered to be the unluckiest number as wrestlers would either get released or even worse yet, let’s move on.

As for who I think will end up drawing #14, I like Stardust. He is a comedy character much like Doink as well as the younger brother of Goldust. Could another face-painted comedy jobber get the most cursed number of the Rumble?

Kofi Kingston will come up with unique ways to stay in the match.

The New Day stalwart is known for his “anything goes” ways of avoiding elimination, from jumping from the rope to the Spanish Announce Table or using a chair. With the help of Big E and Xavier Woods, look for Kingston to come up with another unusual move.

No NXT wrestlers will debut in the Royal Rumble.

Even though the NXT is filled with exciting up-and-coming talent such as Sami Zayn, Finn Balor and Apollo Crews, don’t expect anybody from NXT to make their Royal Rumble debut.

Triple H wins the Royal Rumble match.

I expect some surprise names but I wouldn’t be surprised if Triple H made his WWE return during the Rumble match as I expect him to eliminate Roman Reigns, prompting a much anticipated feud between the two men heading into WrestleMania 32.
