Do You Think William Regal is Leaving NXT? & Monday Morning Q&A

Welcome back to another Monday Morning Q&A where I toss out some questions to get a feel of how you guys and gals are feeling about certain topics.

So here are 5 questions I’d like to toss out for June 14, 2021. I’ll give my answers, too, but the key here is that I want to know what YOU think! So make sure you chime in!

1) William Regal said it’s time for a change in NXT. Is he going to be replaced as General Manager? If so, with who?

If the dialogue had been just “I’ve never seen such bedlam. I think it’s time for a change.” and nothing more, I wouldn’t think much of it. But since he specifically said he had been there for 7 years, I’m wondering if this is going to be his exit from an on-screen role. Or, at least, this on-screen role.

There’s speculation Samoa Joe is going to NXT and could be in a variety of roles. Maybe he’s going to be the new GM, taking over for Regal? I don’t want to see Regal go, and I want Joe to be able to wrestle again, but if those two things can’t align, they could certainly pick much worse for the new NXT GM, that’s for sure.

I’m also wondering if Diamond Mine has anything to do with this. While I lean more toward it not being a factor, I think there’s a chance we get an announcement that Regal is starting a subdivision of NXT and it’ll tie into one of the upcoming events. I just don’t get what the Fatal 5-Way would have done to start something like that.

Frankly, I don’t think the Fatal 5-Way was brutal enough to talk about it being total chaos and whatnot, anyway. We’ve seen more hardcore matches in the past.

Ultimately, I do think Regal is leaving and will be replaced by Joe, but I’m hoping for something better than that, for all parties involved.

2) Did you watch Impact Wrestling’s Against All Odds? If yes, what did you think? But if not, why didn’t you check it out?

I had little to no intention to watch the show. Impact Wrestling was something I gave plenty of chances in the past, but it never clicked for me. No matter how many regime changes, none of it ever felt like it would be worth my time.

However, I did watch a few matches. I tuned in during the women’s tag team match. What I did see was fine, but I was only half paying attention. Of course, the Kenny Omega match with Moose was the real reason to watch, and I enjoyed that.

Still, it didn’t feel like it truly mattered. I knew Omega wasn’t dropping the title and the other feuds just don’t feel interesting to me as an outsider. I’ll likely try to check out Slammiversary if the card looks better, but even then, it’s not a guarantee. I’m too burned out on a the overabundance of pro wrestling content as it is, so it’s difficult to justify taking even more time and dedicating it toward Impact of all things.

3) Mickie James put out a call for all the best women’s wrestlers to take part in NWA’s all-women’s pay-per-view, regardless of their contract status. Who do you imagine will actually appear?

Absolutely nobody from WWE, that’s for sure! There is not a chance in Hell any talent from any brand in WWE will go over to NWA. What would the benefit be to Vince McMahon?

I do think we’ll see some of the more regular AEW talent in the mix, though. Someone like Serena Deeb is technically signed to AEW, but she’ll probably take part in it. Thunder Rosa isn’t an AEW roster member, so she should be guaranteed. But I can see a bit of a talent exchange as a sign of good faith.

For instance, Leyla Hirsch, Riho, Tay Conti, Red Velvet and some others may pop up. Maybe even someone like Mel, who hasn’t had much to do.

Billie Kay and Peyton Royce stand a good chance. Maybe Ruby Riott uses this as a means to kick off her next stage of her career. Brandi Lauren wouldn’t shock me. Santana Garrett HAS to show up, right?

I don’t anticipate Lana, Tessa Blanchard, or any other big names. Frankly, I’m expecting this to be a lot of lesser known people with a few legends sprinkled in. Victoria could appear, for instance.

What’s Cheerleader Melissa been up to?

4) Which matches do you think will be added to the card for Hell in a Cell at the last minute this week?

Here we are again where it’s the week of a pay-per-view and there are only 4 matches announced. Do you remember a time when WWE used to have most of the card sorted out before the go-home episodes? It’s crazy and incredibly frustrating that they don’t have that discipline anymore.

I expect Cesaro vs. Seth Rollins as a guarantee.

Now that we know Rey Mysterio is occupied with Roman Reigns, there goes the SmackDown Tag Team Championship being on the line. However, the Raw Tag Team Championship could very well be up for grabs with that AJ Styles and Omos against The Viking Raiders match. Although, I think that is going to be on Raw, rather than the pay-per-view.

Sheamus probably isn’t ready to wrestle, so I don’t think the United States title will be on the line. Oddly enough, the Intercontinental Championship feels like it’s just sitting in limbo, so maybe not that, either, unless they just go with another Fatal 4-Way or something.

It would not shock me at all if they book some sort of Alexa Bliss vs. Shayna Baszler match just to mess around with the ThunderDome a little more.

At the last minute, maybe they’ll throw Natalya and Tamina against Mandy Rose and Dana Brooke on there.

5) WWE filed trademarks for Ethereal Spirit and E:Spir. What do you think those will be about?

Trademarks are always very mysterious in WWE. Even when we know what they might be roughly used for, it’s usually a surprise when all the details come out. Hell, I remember thinking The Revival was going to be a show, rather than a tag team.

My gut says it might revolve around Isla Dawn. She’s the only other mystical type character that doesn’t have anything revolving around her at the moment. We already have Tian Sha in NXT and Bliss on Raw. While some people write off NXT UK as something they wouldn’t bother with, keep in mind they recently trademarked Symbiosis and Subculture for that brand specifically.

What is even more surprising to me is the “E:Spir” trademark. That feels so try-hard in an attempt to be catchy and unique. It’s much more something I can see the NXT folk getting behind than something Vince was pitching on the main roster.

I can’t imagine this is a Superstar’s name. The colon throws that all off. It’s either a stable or some kind of weird marketing thing for WWE Shop or whatever.
