Have Michael Cole’s Weekly Sit-Down Interviews Lost Its Lustre?

On September 4th, 2013, the very first of Michael Cole’s weekly sit-down interviews made its debut as he interviewed Triple H about The Authority’s regime as well as the “firing” of Cody Rhodes.

The interviews were originally used as a vehicle for Triple H to explain what had transpired on RAW regarding The Authority’s beef against the likes of Daniel Bryan, The Shield and Sting. The only times that Triple H did not appear was when The Authority was on “vacation” or in the weeks heading into WrestleMania and SummerSlam; as such, he would be replaced by another prominent WWE Superstar such as John Cena, Hulk Hogan, Kane, Paul Heyman, Chris Jericho and his wife, Stephanie McMahon. Also Renee Young substituted for Cole on a couple of occasions.

Fast forward to June 2015: in the last several months, Triple H has pretty much been dropped as the weekly interviews shifted its focus from The Authority to other WWE Superstars’ storylines. Today, Cole’s guests have included the likes of Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, Randy Orton, Big Show, Dolph Ziggler, Kevin Owens and even Divas such as Paige and Lana as Triple H’s role on TV has been significantly reduced as of late. Also, Byron Saxton replaced Young as the substitute for Cole.

My suggest is to either move the interviews to SmackDown simply drop them altogether. Even though the interviews were great when Triple H was around, today they have simply lost their lustre.
