The major matches on the Survivor Series card, which is down below, have been revealed. Sadly, the card is very underwhelming to me. That is why I am going to suggest some ideas that would make the show better. Mind you, I am not going to fantasy book a card and explain why I want this match to happen. That simply isn’t my intentions. I never truly liked fantasy booking to begin with. However, I am going to suggest some ideas that would make Survivor Series a more meaningful show.
* Brock Lesnar vs. Jinder Mahal
* The Miz vs. Baron Corbin
* Alexa Bliss vs. Natalya
* Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose vs. The Usos
* Survivor Series-Style Raw vs. Smackdown Match: Alicia Fox (Captain), Sasha Banks, Bayley and TBA vs. Carmella, Becky Lynch, Tamina Snuka and TBA
* Survivor Series-Style Raw vs. Smackdown Match: Male Superstars To Be Announced
Let me start off by saying I don’t think people care about brand supremacy. I sure know I don’t, and it’s not as if WWE gives us a reason to care about it, either. I think the main problem with all this brand supremacy booking is that is has no long term consequence. There is no follow up, and without a follow up, it feels meaningless in the grand scheme of things.
With that in mind, that is why I would add a little spice to the PPV. I would do it by having wrestlers put up their title against a wrestler from the opposite brand. If that wrestler from the opposite brand wins, they take the title over to their brand. That way there is a conflict in mind now. There’s something at stake. Wrestlers aren’t only wrestling to keep their title; they’re wrestling to keep the title on their brand.
On top of that, I would do a 5 vs. 5 match where the winner got to pick three wrestlers from the other brand to come to their side. Again, it’s adding a reason to care because something will happen afterwards. However, there is another twist. That twist is that the person who eliminates the last person receives a title opportunity of their choosing. This sets up the possibility of wrestlers turning on their own teammates to get the title shot.
I believe that these subtle tweaks to the PPV would make it a much more interesting show with stakes on the line. The reason this PPV come across as so dull is for reason that it really doesn’t have any long-term consequences. Follow up is so critical in wrestling, and an entire PPV built around “bragging rights” and pride isn’t substantial enough for wrestling fans to sink their teeth into.
Anyways, do you have any ideas on how to make the show better? Please share in the comment section down below.
