Impressions Heading Into WrestleMania Week 2022? & Monday Morning Q&A

Welcome back to another Monday Morning Q&A where I toss out some questions to get a feel of how you guys and gals are feeling about certain topics.

So here are 5 questions I’d like to toss out for this week. I’ll give my answers, too, but the key here is that I want to know what YOU think! So make sure you chime in!

1) One. More. Time. Do you think Cody Rhodes will pop up on Monday Night Raw? If not, what do you think is going to happen with Seth Rollins?

I keep thinking yes, only to be wrong. Now, I’m thinking the opposite and that he won’t show up, which probably means he will.

The way I see it, WWE either has Cody Rhodes pop up and they “give the fans what they want” knowing full well they don’t need to build anything at all because the surprise makes the feud. Or, they have Seth Rollins show up at the start of Raw, demand a match and try to hold the show hostage, only for Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville to come out, say they promise him a match, and have him sign a contract that they’ll sort it out. His opponent will be left up in the air, and they’ll try using that as a hook to draw attention to Mania with the “Who will Rollins end up fighting?” tease.

I’m leaning more toward the latter, even though the former is much simpler.

2) With the current lineup, which night of WrestleMania looks more interesting to you?

Night 2 takes it for me. Admittedly, AJ Styles vs. Edge was originally listed to be there, too, which made this even more of a done deal. That’s since been moved to night 1, it seems, which adds more to that day, but not enough.

Charlotte Flair vs. Ronda Rousey does nothing for me. Bianca Belair vs. Becky Lynch is something I’ve seen multiple times since SummerSlam. The Logan Paul match isn’t my jam as that feud’s been garbage, I don’t care about Logan Paul at all and The Mysterios don’t feel like big enough opponents (despite Rey’s HOF career). Happy Corbin vs. Drew McIntyre? Please. Rick Boogs and Shinsuke Nakamura fighting for the tag titles? Filler.

The only thing of real interest beyond Styles/Edge isn’t even a match, but a promo segment. That’s not great. Meanwhile, at least night 2 has a No DQ match with Johnny Knoxville and Sami Zayn, I’m curious about the Pat McAfee vs. Austin Theory match, and it has the so-called “biggest WrestleMania match of all time” on it, which is the true main event of the weekend.

3) On top of all the normal television, we have Hall of Fame on Friday night, NXT Stand & Deliver on Saturday, and then Mania on Saturday and Sunday nights. That also includes AEW Rampage and ROH Supercard of Honor. Are you skipping any of the shows? If so, why?

Priority for me goes to WWE in almost all scenarios, but especially for WrestleMania Week. When it comes to AEW Rampage, we already know the spoilers ahead of time, so there’s no need to watch that until a later date (if at all). The same goes for NXT Level Up, if that even airs. ROH Supercard of Honor is something I’d be interested in checking out, but I’ve never been able to follow much of Ring of Honor at any point to begin with, and the Hall of Fame is a bigger deal for me as a fan.

4) Are you expecting any other matches to be added to the card for WrestleMania on either night?

Now that the Intercontinental Championship and Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal have been put on SmackDown and effectively killed the United States Championship match potential, I’m only anticipating two matches to be added to the cards.

One will be Omos against Bobby Lashley. Basically, Omos will say he’s dominated the roster and nobody can stand up to him. The All Mighty will interrupt and that’s your entire build.

Then, I think we’ll get some sort of answer about the Seth Rollins situation, which will take place on Night 2. Omos/Lashley might be Night 2, too, but that’s up in the air with whether or not they’re switching Styles/Edge.

5) Which WWE Superstar not booked on the card are you most disappointed was overlooked?

How are both midcard champions not on the show?! You have a built-in rematch between Damian Priest and Finn Balor and could have EASILY done this whole “Damian side” against Demon King Balor. That’s such a grossly overlooked missed opportunity that I’m ashamed of WWE Creative for not going in that direction, and I don’t care if that’s because they want to have that on the Raw after WrestleMania, as this philosophy of spreading everything out and watering it down isn’t good for the biggest show of the year.

It’s strange how WWE wanted to do four teams fighting for the women’s titles, rather than a women’s battle royal, too. That has just left Doudrop and Nikki A.S.H. and Alexa Bliss off the card. Poor Xia Li and Aliyah, too. You come up to the main roster and they promptly go “But you’re not important enough for WrestleMania.” You mean to tell me they couldn’t pair these women off and do a six-pack challenge instead or something? It’s going to be a clusterfuck anyway.
