In an interview with Sporting News, Patrick Clark said that he felt “in his gut” that he would be eliminated from Tough Enough after his blow-up with ZZ. Here are highlights:

On being eliminated from the show: “You always have to look for that cloud with the silver lining at the end of the day. I found mine in knowing like superstars like The Miz and Ryback, who are currently on the WWE main roster, they didn’t win “Tough Enough” and they made it to the heights that they made it. So, that’s just comforting in itself.”

On knowing he was getting eliminated: “You know, oddly enough I felt it. I really felt in my gut that I was going to go home. I don’t know why but the entire day I just had that feeling. ZZ has a connection with the WWE Universe and the reality TV universe that is just undeniable and they want to see him succeed. ZZ’s biggest problem is that he doesn’t realize how much people are behind him. He doesn’t realize how easy he has it and he thinks that connection is going to carry him all the way. Coming from a guy that used to be a part of that WWE Universe and still is in a sense, they’ll turn on you in a heartbeat. If you show that you’re really not working for us, they’ll turn on you and I believe that’s what is about to happen.”

On why the audience turned on him: “The WWE Universe is entitled to their opinion. They may not have liked the words I said to ZZ. I knew when I said what I did to ZZ in front of the camera that I was putting myself at a big risk but I was willing to take that risk because ZZ is my best friend as far as the “Tough Enough” show is concerned. I wanted to see him and I in the final two together. I was just me stressing to him . . . we have two very different work ethics. It hurt me since I’ve been dreaming about this for so long and it took me this long to get here. He literally thought the “Tough Enough” audition was something to do. And he has the support, he’s just not utilizing. He’s not using his full potential to make the most out of the situation.”
