Prediction Day: Fastlane 2015

With Sunday approaching very ‘fast’, WWE’s newly created PPV is looking to be exactly what many of us are expecting, a filler
between the Rumble and WrestleMania. We are used to having the exciting and
gimmicky elimination chamber to bring the hype for their premier event (not to
mention give a few other men a title shot and a bit of a credibility boost).
Fortunately, a few of the matches do have the potential to steal the show,
especially if they keep it at a 5 match card + the Sting spot. As per usual,
the predicted winners and ratings are below:

Rusev vs. John Cena (US Title)

Predicted Winner – Rusev

Predicted Rating: 3/5

Some may argue that this may not prove to be anything
special. Since the company is still a huge fan of Cena, it would be a waste for
him to put Rusev over without putting on a match that can be used for
highlights in the future. Ideally, this will be a brawl with some strong spots
(throw out of the ring onto the steps, thrown over the guard rail, broken
Spanish announce table etc.). If creative wants Rusev to have a strong 2015, it
starts with this match. Cena may also win via DQ, but do not expect him to take
home the title on this occasion.

Nikki Bella vs. Paige (Divas Title)

Predicted Winner – Nikki Bella

Predicted Rating: 1.5/5

Judging by the past Nikki matches, this will be nothing
special. Perhaps we are all spoiled by the booking and talent of the women of
NXT at this point. Nikki winning may set up for some sort of blindsided
backstab by Brie, giving a Bella vs. Bella WrestleMania match for the title. Other
than that, expect Paige to carry her for a few decent moves, and it to end
within 5 minutes.

Bad News Barrett vs. Dean Ambrose (IC Title)

Predicted Winner – Dean Ambrose

Predicted Rating: 3.5/5

If any match has the chance of a title change, this will be
the one. Barrett’s brawling and power style, and Ambrose’s brawling and high
intensity style should mesh quite well. Both men are capable of putting on
great matches, and are able to mix up the pace and styles. With Ziggler out of
this PPV mix (so far), this could be a show stealer. Provided this match does
not get hit with a time constraint, this will be what J.R. would call a
“slobberknocker” of a match.

The Usos vs. Cesaro and Kidd (Tag Team Titles)

Predicted Winner – The Usos

Predicted Rating: 3.5/5

With Rikishi entering the hall of fame, expect his sons to
retain the bronze. This is an easy highlight to whatever WrestleMania match
they have, as well as highlight the family in general. All four of these men
have the ability to put on a match that will wow the crowd and the IWC, so we
can hope for this to be the dark horse to steal the show. Expect some fantastic
double teams from Kidd & Cesaro, and the typical high-flying Samoan style
from The Usos. Although we have seen this in the past, hopefully they will
bring their A game to this PPV.

Roman Reigns vs. Daniel Bryan (#1 contender)

Predicted Winner – Tie/Double DQ

Predicted Rating: 3.5/5

The company favorite vs. the fan favorite. Regardless of
what people think of Reigns, Daniel Bryan will put on a good match. This is a
fresh match-up that has Reigns pitted against someone with a vast
skill set in the ring. It will also be a match that will likely last for more
than a few minutes. If Reigns can keep up with Bryan on Sunday, he will
hopefully regain a few fans. As far as the creative aspect goes, WWE will
likely take the easy way out and have a double DQ (or interference). This will
create a triple threat match between Bryan, Reigns, and Lesnar. After seeing
the Royal Rumble’s triple threat, it is hard to argue them going this route,
even though this will be the second year in a row they will be doing it.
Personally, I believe Reigns should win, beat Lesnar at WrestleMania, then have
Rollins cash in after he wins and take the strap. The moment you have someone win the Rumble, you are all in.

Triple H Calls out Sting

Prediction – Triple H will attack Sting with the help of the
Authority, followed by help from the Super Best Friends (Ryback, Ziggler,
Rowan), and Sting will challenge Triple H to a match at WrestleMania.

Kane, Rollins, Ryback, Ziggler, and Rowan all have nothing
to do for this PPV, so this is a pretty predictable setup. This seems like
something that could be done on a Raw, so hopefully they will stray from the
norm on this one and do something out of the ordinary.

Overall, this PPV will likely not be a memorable one. Keeping the matches to a minimum so they all are free of time constraint may help it from being a mediocre show. Let’s hope for the tag and midcard title bouts to give us an unexpected show.
