Apollo Crews vs. Tye Dillinger

Predicted Winner: Apollo Crews

When was the last time a featured superstar lost on his debut? Unfortunately, Dillinger will be the one doing the job for Crews on this debut. Dillinger has just started to gain some footing with the NXT universe, only to be fed to this man. Expect to see Crews showcase some of his athletic offense right out of the gate in order to win over the crowd for future months to come. Again, if you have not seen him in action before, take a look at some of Uhaa Nation’s matches or moves. He is very impressive, and this is the first step to bringing another strong NXT main eventer to the table.

Baron Corbin vs. Samoa Joe

Predicted Winner: Samoa Joe

Both are men who have underwhelmed as of late in the ring (with an extra emphasis on Corbin here). Joe is more than capable of putting on a fantastic match, so hopefully he will pull out all the stops to make this work. Corbin has been treading water with squash matches for quite some time now, so putting him in the ring with Joe is something he needs. Although likely being the worst match of the night, both men still may surprise the crowd with hard hitting moves. Joe still needs to stay dominant in order to properly put over the next batch of hopefuls, so he will likely pick up the win here.

Jushin Liger vs. Tyler Breeze

Predicted Winner: Jushin Liger

This is hopefully the beginning of many surprise guests for the NXT brand. Jushin Liger has been a staple in Japan, and has been featured in other American promotions such as WCW, ROH & TNA. Although is his now 50 years old, his suit and mask hide the wear & tare. He is still very fluid in the ring for his age, and should be able to keep up with the 27 year old Breeze. Expect quick cruiserweight-style moves, and expect them to not suffer from time constraint. Breeze needs to show that he belongs on the main roster, and this is the perfect match to showcase that. That being said, Liger is the guest, so he will likely win.

Blake & Murphy vs. Vaudevillians (NXT Tag Team Championship)

Predicted Winner: Vaudevillians

The biggest mystery here is who the Vaudevillians will bring out to subdue Alexa Bliss. People have speculated Leva Bates (blue pants), Jessie (now Billie Kay), KC (now Peyton Royce), or even trainer Sara Del Ray will be the Vaudevillians new manager. This is a perfect chance to showcase a new woman with talent, especially after Sasha/Charlotte/Becky will soon be gone from NXT. The match itself should be fast paced, with hopefully some more innovative offense and counters from both teams. Even though they have both been criticized heavily, all 4 men have stepped up their in-ring game. This match may surprise people on the quality. Vaudevillians with the Whirling Dervish to win.

Sasha Banks vs. Bayley (NXT Women’s Championship)

Predicted Winner: Bayley

From start to finish, this was one of the most well executed feuds for the women in NXT. Just like Sami Zayn, Bayley is at the end of her “road to redemption.” Her capturing the title at this point makes complete sense, as Sasha is off to focus on capturing the Divas title on the main roster. On Jericho’s podcast, Sasha noted she loves working with Bayley and said they have great chemistry. This chemistry will shine in this match, and should be one of the better (if not the best) women’s match we have seen since Sasha and Becky. The only thing to note is that Bayley does occasionally get too excited in her pump-up moments, and misses part of a spot. Other than that, it should be a great match. Bayley to win with a Bayley-to-Belly off the top.

Finn Balor vs. Kevin Owens (Ladder match for the NXT Championship)

Predicted Winner: Finn Balor

This match has the potential to not only be the best match on the NXT card, but the best match this weekend. Both men have never competed in a ladder match under the WWE banner before (although Owens has a fantastic match against Zayn in both PWG & ROH). With Owens’ hard hitting style and Balor’s high flying skills, this match will be a masterpiece. Both men are clearly not afraid of jumping and falling off of high places, nor do they shy away from getting hit with a ladder. The only factor that may be an issue is the fact that Owens needs to be in good condition for his match with Cesaro at SummerSlam, so he may hold back slightly. Other than that, the 13000+ Brooklyn crowd will be in full support of this match, and they will be vocal. This may be the best thing in NXT since Zayn vs. Neville.
