Should WWE Bring Back The Brand Split?

In this article I will be addressing the question of whether or not WWE should bring back the Brand Split.

Roster Size

With the roster seemingly growing in size what better time than to split the roster into two different shows. It will offer more TV time for Superstars and Divas who are currently used very sparingly or not at all. Having the roster split will also offer more time to set up feuds, I know some are set up well but some are also thrust upon us in a flash before we even know about it.

Smackdown

The split could make Smackdown relevant again. Lets all be honest Smackdown has seemed to become somewhat of an afterthought by the WWE. BUT it could be great again, Smackdown used to be the home of many awesome Superstars during the split in the past including The Rock, Undertaker, Edge and (cough) John Cena. It was once the place to start an epic Career, John Cena started on Smackdown as did the reborn Bradshaw aka JBL, it was also the first home of the “Beast” Brock Lesnar.

Titles

If the Brand split was brought back would we need to see the return of the WHC? While a lot of people will argue yes, I dont think that it would be needed. The WWE championship is the companies main belt and should be defended on all WWE programing. The Divas title should also be the same in that it should be defended on all shows. Both shows should have their own set of Tag Titles which would offer the chance to develop the Tag Team division further whist each show would have either the United States title or the Intercontinental Title. The other possibility is bring back the Cruiser Weight title on Smackdown without a weight limit and have Smackdown as a more high octane show and Raw as the more Muscled up behemoths fighting for the WWE title.

Bragging Rights and Draft Lottery

The split could lead to the return of the PPV Bragging Rights where Raw Superstars and Divas would face off against Smackdown Superstars and Divas. It could also be made more interesting by having a 5 vs 5 match with the winning show getting to hand pick a Superstar from the opposite show to join their roster. Speaking of changing rosters that brings me on to the Draft Lottery. It was only once a year and that’s all it needed to be, Superstars competing to earn new Superstars for their show. Now the possibility’s could be endless, You could have some of the NXT Superstars compete in the Draft night. It would be a good way to send Superstars back to NXT who need a bit of Polishing with out just dropping them off TV without warning. The flip side is that Raw or Smackdown could potentially Draft an NXT talent. Imagine the tron flashing all the talents when suddenly a top NXT star gets drafted. The crowd would go nuts and its a clever way to bring some of the talents up to the main rosters.

The Negatives

I don’t see there being to many negatives to be honest but I am sure people will point them out to me. There is however one that springs to mind and that is if the split did happen how long will it be before the WWE get impatient and starts using Raw talent on Smackdown and vise versa?
