The Crystal Ball: My Predictions For The WWE Between Now and WrestleMania 31, Part I

As we get ready for WWE Night of Champions come Sunday, September 21st, 2014, let’s predict what I think will happen between now and WrestleMania 31 on Sunday, March 29th, 2015.

The Rock will win the 2015 Royal Rumble and face Brock Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 31.

Nope, this is not a typo. I expect The Rock to make his shocking return during the 30-Man Royal Rumble Match and win it all just like fellow part-timer Batista did this past January. As much as the IWC wants Roman Reigns to face Lesnar, I don’t see the match happening for two reasons. One, the possible Rock-Lesnar match will no doubt boost buyrates and two, Reigns is not at that level yet.

Cody Rhodes will be “future endeavored” by the end of the year.

With WWE expected to continue its price-cutting purge, look for several cuts involving some of the roster later this year. Although guys like Zack Ryder and David Otunga are likely candidates, I also expect one huge shocking release to take place.

Cody Rhodes, along with his half-brother Goldust, has been the victim of backstage politics due to Vince McMahon’s dislike towards their father, Dusty Rhodes. With Goldust and Dusty expected to part ways with the WWE once their contracts expire, I look for the WWE to cut ties with Cody, who isn’t faring much better as Stardust.

The Authority will continue.

The Authority has been one of the best things in the WWE right now and the reason it hasn’t faded yet is due to its leaders Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, who also work behind the scenes as well. Expect The Authority storyline to continue until at least WrestleMania 32.

In part II of the series, I will look at what the future lies for John Cena, Daniel Bryan, Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, The Wyatt Family, and more.
