What Matches Will Be Added to AEW Full Gear? & Monday Morning Q&A

Welcome back to another Monday Morning Q&A where I toss out some questions to get a feel of how you guys and gals are feeling about certain topics.

So here are 5 questions I’d like to toss out for this week. I’ll give my answers, too, but the key here is that I want to know what YOU think! So make sure you chime in!

1) What matches do you think are still yet to be added to the card for AEW Full Gear 2022, if any?

Wardlow should definitely defend the TNT Championship against Samoa Joe and Powerhouse Hobbs. Maybe there can even be a title unification with the ROH Television Championship, but I doubt that will be the case. Most likely, Wardlow’s title will be the only one on the line.

With all the teases about The Elite returning, I could imagine The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega might face Death Triangle for the trios titles.

Maybe Orange Cassidy defends the All-Atlantic Championship, but I don’t think that’s a guarantee. If he does, it could be against any number of random people on the pre-show. They’ve been booking him in a totally flippant “take on all challengers at all moments” way.

Frankly, I’m hoping that will be the extent of it. I don’t think these pay-per-views should be 19 matches deep. They get to be exhausting and it hurts the overall value. Sometimes, less is more. I don’t need to see Matt Hardy and Private Party against three people from The Firm just for the sake of getting more people on the card, for instance.

2) The 24/7 Championship was tossed in the garbage on Monday Night Raw. Do you think this is the right direction to take? Would you have done anything different?

The belt was terrible. It looked ugly and immediately upon its arrival, was already doomed. WWE never gave it much thought and frequently had terrible ideas of what to do with it, rather than tapping into the potential.

It was absolutely the right move to retire the belt if they weren’t going to put any effort into it. By this point, it would have taken too much work to rehab its credibility even if that were the case.

Of course, it is hilarious Nikki Cross botched putting the belt in the trash can. That’s very fitting. And I feel bad for Dana Brooke to have held it so long and to drop it, rather than for her to retire it.

My main disappointment, though, is that R-Truth wasn’t there to steal the title and run away. He has to get his baby back.

3) Gaze into your crystal ball. Toss out a prediction two months in advance. Will Nick Aldis participate in the 2023 Royal Rumble match?

Yes. Supposedly, he will become a free agent in January. If Royal Rumble were earlier in the month, I would think it is too much of a time crunch. But January 28th means he’ll likely be at least just under the wire, if not have an even bigger gap.

Aldis could go to AEW, but I think he wants to go to WWE. Most people, whether they want to admit it or not, want to scratch “WWE Superstar who has competed at WrestleMania” off their bucket list. With Triple H in charge, who appreciates guys like Aldis more, now may be the only time that he can make that jump.

4) What do you think Shawn Michaels will announce in regards to NXT Deadline?

The clock aspect of it makes me think there will be some sort of gauntlet match for the NXT Championship. That would also explain why Bron Breakker doesn’t have one contender, but multiple people gunning for him at the moment.

Maybe it is a scramble-type match. Perhaps it is just a regular gauntlet match. But I do think we’ll have Breakker defending against Von Wagner, Grayson Waller, Apollo Crews and JD McDonagh. Five people at five minute intervals for a 25 minute match.

5) Chris Jericho says he wants to make a Painmaker film. If you could see a movie made out of any current character in WWE or AEW, who would you choose?

Bray Wyatt will probably be most people’s answers. That isn’t a bad option, considering how much he wants to talk instead of be a professional wrestler.

I think you could get a decent story out of Schism, even though I’m not too fond of the group. Generally speaking, there’s a lot to work with regarding that cult concept.

In AEW, the standout to me isn’t The House of Black or Danhausen, but Orange Cassidy. Picture his character as the focal point of a road trip stoner 90s Big Lebowski type movie. Or maybe Luchasaurus is something to tap into.

There are a few others I could see people picking, like Abadon or Dark Order, but I’d go with Cassidy.
