ROH Survival of the Fittest 2018: Marty Scurll

In 2018, the Survival of the Fittest Tournament winner would be Marty Scurll. Marty Scurll would defeat Silas Young and Stuka Jr. in a three-way match to advance to the finals. He would go on to defeat Christopher Daniels, Hangman Page, PJ Black, Jonathan Gresham, and Guerrero Marya Jr. to win the tournament. Scurll would contend in his championship match at the ROH/NJPW G1 Supercard event in Madison Square Garden. In this match, champion Jay Lethal would defend against Matt Taven and Marty Scurll in a ladder match. Taven would climb the ladder to grab the championship in a 29:35 match, squashing Scurll’s chances at the title.

On June 25, 2020, ROH announced it would be launching an investigation into claims made against Scurll amidst the Speaking Out movement. In January 2021, ROH would announce that Scurll was no longer under contract after the two parties agreed to “mutually part ways.” As of this writing, Scurll’s last match in wrestling took place on February 29, 2020, where he, Brody King, and Flip Gordon would defeat The Briscoes and Slex at ROH Gateway to Honor 2020.

Marty Scurll has not made an appearance in wrestling since allegations were made against him.
