With Wrestlemania 34 fast approaching, the Miz, Seth Rollins and Finn Balor keep making statements in their effort to become the favourite to leave New Orleans with the coveted title.
The Triple Threat Match between the aforementioned superstars will be one of the most exciting matches in the Grandest Stage of Them All. There is no doubt about it.
The quality and wrestling skills of these three superstars ensure that all bets are off regarding the winner of this bout. With that in mind, what plans does the creative team have for this battle?
Initially, it seemed that the Miz was the favourite to win the match, as he is very close to make history and become the longest-reigning Intercontinental champion in WWE history.
“The A-Lister” wants to surpass Pedro Morales’ 619-day record, but this is not expected to happen prior to the April 30 edition of Monday Night Raw.
Concurrently, the participation of Rollins and Balor in the match was a sign that the WWE was teasing a feud between the two in the post-Wrestlemania pay-per-views.
What we have seen during the build-up of the match, though, is that both superstars have their sights set on the Miz and his title and haven’t been willing to fight against each other yet.
On the other hand, the current champion does a great job as a heel, while the presence of his allies, the Miztourage (Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel), lets him have the upper hand in the fight.
Concerning Rollins, the “Kingslayer” has the opportunity to become champion once again, after spending most of 2017 as a member of the Shield and as a Tag Team Champion, alongside Dean Ambrose and Jason Jordan.
Concurrently, and given that Roman Reigns will reportedly become the new Universal Champion, this is Rollins’ best chance to return to the title picture and do his best to again become the face of the company.
Regarding Balor, the former Universal champion is very talented, yet he has been granted very few title opportunities so far.
The versatile superstar will make his first Wrestlemania appearance and will fight tooth and nail to win his first title since becoming the inaugural Universal Champion a couple of years ago (by beating Rollins at SummerSlam).
Furthermore, if Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson (the Balor Club) interfere in the match, just like they did on Monday’s edition of Raw, when they attacked the Miztourage, Balor will be in a position of strength over his opponents.
Although it is still unclear who the company will pick as the winner of this match, Rollins is reportedly set to leave Wrestlemania 34 as the new champion.
The reason is that, according to Sportskeeda, the WWE is advertising a Live event in Belfast, Northern Ireland (on May 10), as part of its annual European Tour, where Balor is scheduled to challenge the “Kingslayer” for the IC Title.
So, the company seems to plan a feud between the two superstars in the post-Wrestlemania pay-per-views, while it was announced that all three superstars, along with Samoa Joe, will compete in a Fatal-4 Intercontinental Championship ladder match at the Greatest Royal Rumble event in Saudi Arabia on 27 April.
Last but not least, and in case the Miz (who is an eight-time IC champion) loses the title at the Showcase of the Immortals, it is certain he will do his best to reclaim it and tie Chris Jericho’s record of nine reigns with the title.
Overall, the IC Title Match at Wrestlemania 34 is going to be ultra competitive, but if rumours are to be true, Seth Rollins will become the new champion at the Grandest Stage of Them All.
