Will Taya Valkyrie Beat Jade Cargill? and Monday Morning Q&A

Welcome back to another Monday Morning Q&A where I toss out some questions to get a feel of how you guys and gals are feeling about certain topics.

So here are 5 questions I’d like to toss out for this week. I’ll give my answers, too, but the key here is that I want to know what YOU think! So make sure you chime in!

1) How do you feel about these tacked-on “showcase” Fatal 4-Way tag team matches being added to WrestleMania’s card?

This is lame. How is the women’s match not even for the tag titles? And why aren’t the men wrestling in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal instead?

I had suggested other alternative routes in previous articles that I stand by are better options. But even without those specifics in mind, I still feel like these are SO low effort (essentially zero effort) that it is yet another example of WWE not necessarily caring about even the biggest show of the year.

I don’t like this philosophy that Mania sells itself and you don’t need to invest in the storylines or to properly build things. This last-minute “toss whatever out there” mentality, along with booking feuds like Bianca Belair vs Asuka as just “they look at each other face to face every Monday night and that’s it, because all that matters is that they have a good match on the night of the show and the TV leading up to it doesn’t have to be interesting” really makes it hard to defend that this still has the same magic it used to.

Now, WWE has to rush to make these showcase matches make any sense. But that’s only going to happen if they care enough to try to add more value to them. More than likely, we’ll just see tag teams continue to fight on Raw and SmackDown for a spot, and that is ALL that we’re getting for the next few episodes. No substance.

2) What do you think will happen with this Roxanne Perez situation?

At this point, with how vague they’re being, I do think Roxanne has some sort of physical issue going on, rather than this being a work. What that could possibly be—especially since it has to be something that allowed her to wrestle Meiko Satomura, but has her Stand & Deliver presence in doubt—is beyond me. I can’t think of anything that makes much sense for allowing her to wrestle, and then waiting to see if she can again.

Since they’ve set it up that she could forfeit the title, I think that’s going to happen. Tiffany Stratton will win the belt next, most likely.

3) Do you think Taya Valkyrie will be the one to dethrone Jade Cargill for the TBS Championship?

Eventually, Jade does have to lose. However, I don’t think she necessarily has to drop the title before she moves on to the AEW Women’s World Championship. She could pull a Goldberg and have the midcard belt while winning the world title, and then vacate the TBS Championship.

However, Valkyrie is in a better position than almost any of Cargill’s challengers to be the one to beat her. She’s physically imposing, has the same finisher, and has name value. Cargill losing to her wouldn’t be that much of a setback; especially if Cargill ends up joining the AEW Originals side of the women’s division civil war going on right now and is the main star of that feud by the end.

But since that’s me projecting, I think I’ll stick with Cargill retaining.

4) How would you book Rey Mysterio finally agreeing to fight Dominik at WrestleMania?

They’ve had enough of the “I’m not going to fight you because you’re my son” promos. It’s firmly established that Dominik needs to do something that crosses the line. Logically, he has to enter the territory of being disowned. In order for that to happen, it can’t just be that Dom keeps pushing Rey until Rey snaps.

What I would do is call back Angie and Aalyah. We’ve seen them on television here and there. Aalyah had her whole awful romance with Buddy Murphy. Audiences should be somewhat familiar with them.

Have Rey invite Dom to a family meeting/intervention of sorts (aka, an in-ring promo segment). He wants to appeal to Dom as his father and have his mother and sister talk him out of being in The Judgment Day and to come to his senses. But in the process, Dom needs to either sick Rhea on his mom and sister, or actively do something like to push Aalyah himself (or at least threaten to hurt them). That way, Rey can step in, justified in his head that the only way he’d fight his son would be to protect his wife and daughter (ie, the double-negative thing canceling out that Dom is his son) and now, Dom is “no longer his son” in his eyes, which makes him fair game.

5) A co-host for The Miz at WrestleMania keeps getting teased. Do you think that will happen? If so, who?

LA Knight would be a possibility, but I’m thinking the two main suspects would be Snoop Dogg and Jake Paul. With regards to Snoop Dogg, he’s on the WrestleMania posters, but nothing has been announced yet for why he might show up. If they try to incorporate this whole 24/7 Championship style “other celebrities have his belt” thing, they need to get on that super soon.

With Jake Paul, that would just be a means to get him to make an appearance. Plus, since Logan Paul is facing Seth Rollins and The Miz has been heavily involved in that, there’s a connection. I don’t think that will necessarily be the case (I’m leaning more toward Snoop Dogg, if anyone) but it is a better possibility than thinking suddenly Valhalla will be in that role or something.
