WWE Great Balls Of Fire 2017 from the American Airlines Center in Dallas, TX
July 9th, Kickoff starts at 7PM
Kickoff Show Match – WWE Cruiserweight Championship: Neville © vs. Akira Tozawa
This feud/match does not provide much intrigue to it. I am an avid watcher of 205 Live and I have seen the progression of Akira Tozawa but, he is just no match for Neville. It has been stated time and time again; Neville is without a doubt the “King Of The Cruiserweights” and that is no longer a self-proclaimed nickname. He has been doing the best work of his career & its great to see him thriving. I honestly do not see anyone who is going to dethrone Neville on the 205 Live roster any time soon.
Winner: Neville Retains The WWE Crusierweight Championship
Enzo Amore vs. Big Cass
Although I still believe it was too early to end Enzo & Big Cass, this feud does have my attention quite a bit. I for one; would not book this as a one off. Enzo should lose to Big Cass at Great Balls Of Fire & continue to antagonize Cass until he receives a rematch in their hometown of Brooklyn, NY at SummerSlam. Enzo is fantastic on the microphone & he can certainly tell the story of; he will not quit until he puts the “seven-foot catchphrase” down. Having a blow-off between these two, where they both are from would be the perfect ending to this story. But as for now, this Sunday at G.B.O.F., Big Cass will lay waste to Enzo in a match that I think will last no longer than 8 minutes.
Winner: Big Cass
Intercontinental Championship: The Miz © vs. Dean Ambrose
Honestly, I could not careless about this match. We have seen this match and feud on both brands and it has become very stale, no matter how much it is switched up. Dean Ambrose needs a revamp of his character because the steam he had rolling into the summer of 2016 is no longer there. I see The Miztourage (Bo Dallas & Curtis Axel) getting involved in this match to assist Miz in retaining his I.C. Title.
Winner: The Miz Retains The Intercontinental Championship
30-Minute Iron Man Match – RAW Tag Team Championships: Sheamus & Cesaro © vs. The Hardy Boyz
I believe this feud is just a hold-off until The Revival are positioned to challenge for the gold. Sheamus will be taking time off from WWE soon to go film the movie he is starring in, so it is only a matter of time before Cesaro & Sheamus go on about their separate ways for a while. Now in saying that; RAW is extremely short on tag-teams. In the case of Matt & Jeff Hardy, honestly, they’re slowly starting to become a nostalgia act for me. It is always good to hear their music, come out and do their thing, but this is 2017; they are famous now for their “Broken” gimmick and that’s what I want to see. I think this match will be very promising and in the end; I see Sheamus & Cesaro continuing to “be the bar” in the RAW Tag-Team division.
Winners: Sheamus & Cesaro Retain The RAW Tag-Team Titles
Seth Rollins vs. Bray Wyatt
Out of all of the matches on the card, this has to be the one where I can speak for everybody in saying; who honestly cares. Its very disappointing to go back on the WWE Network remember how 6 short months ago, Bray Wyatt was on top of the world as the WWE Champion & it has been downhill from there. Seth Rollins is sort of in a “purgatory” state in his career right now as he has nothing to do and is just waiting for a spot to open on RAW. In my opinion, WWE owes Bray Wyatt for the up and down year he has had and in an upset; Bray Wyatt will defeat Seth Rollins.
Winner: Bray Wyatt
RAW Women’s Championship: Alexa Bliss © vs. Sasha Banks
This is one of the more unpredictable matches on the card other than the main event, because the outcomes of this match are numerous. If Bliss continues her reign, there could be a spot open for Nia Jax, Emma, a possible rematch with Sasha at SummerSlam, or a pissed off Bayley. If Sasha goes on to capture her fourth RAW Women’s Championship, I see Bayley becoming jealous, Sasha gets tired of Bayley not being a true friend & turning her back on her. Which will ultimately lead to us seeing the Bayley we know from NXT with her & Sasha putting on a potential classic at SummerSlam.
The performance Nia Jax put on during the Gauntlet match was impressive and it was great to see her get some shine; which leads me to believe WWE may be looking at her as the next champion in the division. As tricky as this one is, I’m going to go on in saying that Sasha Banks captures her fourth RAW Women’s Title & heads into SummerSlam in a Fatal 4-Way with Alexa Bliss, Bayley & Nia Jax.
Winner: Sasha Banks Wins The RAW Women’s Championship
Ambulance Match: Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman
Outside of the main event for Great Balls Of Fire, this has been one of the best feuds in the past 6 months on Monday Night RAW. You have to be blind in not seeing that Roman Reigns & Braun Strowman have legit chemistry together in the ring. They both feed off of one another & make each other look like beasts. I think this will be the best match of the night, the fans will be into it simply; because everyone wants to see Roman Reigns get destroyed. I have to give Reigns his props; although he takes a lot of crap, he can go in the ring & working with a big guy like Braun is not the easiest thing to do.
Although WWE is obviously very high on Strowman, I cannot see Braun getting over on Roman for 4 weeks straight. Roman Reigns has to come out on top in this match. I hope I am wrong, but it is hard for me to believe that WWE is going to let their obvious future leader of the company get destroyed by Strowman 4 straight times.
Winner: Roman Reigns
WWE Universal Championship: Brock Lesnar © vs. Samoa Joe
Ahhhh, I am legit marking out as I type this. This feud has been handled perfectly; Joe has been positioned as a beast, he has been made to look great & most importantly, WWE has made you believe that he will take down Brock Lesnar. You do not need to be a WWE insider to know that this match will be hard-hitting, it will not consist of Joe getting suplexed around the ring for 10 minutes. Joe is going to give Lesnar the fight of his life.
