WWE NXT (5/27) Results: Owens vs. Joe Staredown!

Welcome To WWE NXT, we are shown highlights from last week’s NXT Takeover: Unstoppable event. Sami Zayn’s music hit, but Kevin Owens walked out instead. We get a cut in of footage of Kevin Owens taking out John Cena at RAW. Owens said that he feels that he doesn’t have to defend his title against anyone. He likes people to earn their title shots. Owens responds to John Cena sucks chants by saying that he’s never heard Sami Zayn sucks being chanted her in NXT. He’s a good man, he said that because of him we will never have to hear Sami Zayn’s music again. He did exactly what he said he was going to do. He said that he’s still the champion, he can continue to support his family and that’s what a good man does. He turned his attention to Samoa Joe. He said that he’s not scared of Samoa Joe, he backed down from Joe last week because he he could drop Joe just like that. “We want Joe,” chants break out. He said that this Sunday, he will drop John Cena and show him that the real champ is here. NXT GM William Regal makes his way down to the ring. Regal said that he’s walking a very thin line. Regal said that the only reason that Owens works in NXT is because he’s the champion. He brought up that Owens took out Alex Riley, Adrian Neville, Hideo Itami, Owens said he didn’t take out Itami. Owens said that Sami Zayn wanted the match, Regal gave him the match so it’s not on him. Solomon Crowe makes his way down to the ring. Crowe said that he can’t hear this crap anymore. Crowe said that Owens is scared that someone in NXT could beat him for the title. He said that Owens is not a good guy, but rather a piece of crap. Owens said that it looks like Crowe just earned himself an opportunity. Regal booked it for tonight. He told Regal that he will add Crowe to the list of injured superstars that he has taken out. Owens left the ring and walked to the back.


We see footage of Hideo Itami being taken out last week in the parking lot of Full Sail. Itami cuts a promo while doing rehab for his shoulder about returning better than ever and finding out who he was attacked by.

-Commercial Break-

Zack Ryder is interviewed by Renee Young and he praises how great NXT is.

Singles match: Emma (with Dana Brooke) vs. Bayley.

Emma shoved down Bayley, she put the boots to her in the corner. Emma with a drop kick for a near fall. Emma pulled her down by the hair and got some great heat for this. When Emma started talking trash, Bayley shoved her in the corner and landed a back elbow. Bayley with a belly to belly suplex, she went to the middle rope, but Emma grabbed onto her foot and slammed her down. Emma with a chin submission for the win.

Winner: Emma.

Post-match, they attacked and beat down Bayley in the ring until Charlotte ran down to make the save. However, numbers game caught up to Charlotte and Emma attacked her from behind. Emma and Dana stood tall in the ring to close the show.

Non-Title Tag Team match: Blake and Murphy (with Alexa Bliss) vs. Elias Sampson and Mike Rallis

Blake and Ralis start things, Ralis with a series of a hip toss. Blake with a knockdown, he then tagged in Murphy, who hit a springboard dive. Blake and Murphy double team Ralis until Ralis battles back and gets the hot tag to Elias Sampson. He hit a series of forearm shots to Blake, but Murphy hit his front, behind and then they hit their suplex into a frog splash combination finisher for the win.

Winner: Blake and Murphy

Post-match, Alex Bliss went to the top rope and hit a splash to Elias just for an insult.

Alex Bliss cut a promo backstage about the reason for joining Blake and Murphy is because they’re winners. She’s a winner and she just wants to take out the trash that Carmella is.

-Commercial Break-

Singles match: Finn Balor vs. Tye Dillinger.

Typically squash match for Balor. He hit the sling blade, the drop kick in the corner and the double footstomp off the top rope for the win.

Winner: Finn Balor

Jason Jordan said that he’s found a tag team partner and he will reveal it soon enough. Chad Gable walked up and said that he would be a great tag team partner.

-Commercial Break-

Singles match: Kevin Owens vs. Solomon Crowe.

Owens attacked Crowe right off the bat. Crowe tried fighting back with right hands, he went to the top rope, but Owens pushed him off and Crowe fell to the floor.

-Commercial Break-

We’re back with Kevin Owens still in control of Solomon Crowe. A graphic is shown to promote Owens appearance on SmackDown tomorrow night. Owens completely dominates Crowe until Crowe landed a big right hand that knocked Owens down. Crowe off the ropes, Owens with a back elbow and then a backsplash. Owens with a powerbomb.

Winner: Kevin Owens

After the match, Samoa Joe walked down to the ring and then Owens left right away. Owens walked up to the stage and we end the show with the two staring off at each other.
